LG International
After major restructuring efforts, LGI has now expanded, no longer only taking on the export and import role for the LG Group, as it did in the past. The company has successfully built up its own key capabilities, thereby preparing a stable revenue-earning ground for the future.
Since 2004, LGI has concentrated on expanding investments in existing resources and industrial raw materials. This has enabled the company to consistently supply and sell energy and industrial products, while striving to effectively expand its import and distribution business, and to secure future new growth opportunities through active exploration of new businesses.
In particular, LGI has built up a vast global network and trust from its international business partners, and, for several years, has invested in overseas resources development projects, among others. The company is now reaping tangible results from these global ventures. Since discovering petroleum in ADA block, Kazakhstan, in May 2006, LGI has secured rights to explore and operate three more promising blocks in that country. Expansion into Oman, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Qatar, as well as various other countries, has been successful, with the company developing and securing petroleum and gas blocks and bituminous coal mines. Production of these natural resources from these sites is now in full swing and posting encouraging results.
Meanwhile, in 2007, LGI signed an MOU with the Republic of Sakha – a subject to Russia, and a treasure of natural resources – for a state development project: South Yakutia Comprehensive Development Project. Since then, the company has been pouring all its energies into national marketing strategies(Country marketing) across Sakha, including the implementation of natural resource development projects, and various infrastructure construction schemes.
LGI will continue to invest in the fields of promising natural resources such as petroleum, coal, and nonferrous metals, and aims to further strengthen its national marketing policies(Country marketing) for strategic nations such as the Republic of Sakha and Oman. In a push to increase its efforts to develop potential markets, LGI is also committed to expanding a network of emerging markets such as Mongolia, Central Asia, and North Africa.
