LG’s First UAE 3D Gaming Champion culminates with four winners taking top accolades

LG Electronics hit ‘Game On’ at the Grand Final of the UAE’s First 3D gaming championship held at Deira City Centre, Dubai. Battling it out over the last 6 months contestants brought their ‘A’ game on a daily, weekly and monthly basis to a bid to become the UAE’s First 3D Gaming Champion.

 

Amateur gamers, families, children and friends attended the grand finale on Saturday evening. The thrill and excitement of the on-screen activities were reflected in the crowds’ faces as the gamers attempted high-speed antics. Participants received enthusiastic and passionate support throughout the competition with crowds and onlookers cheering them on to get the best score, pushing individuals who they believed were worthy of being crowned champion.

Walking away with top accolades in each of the four categories were; Hashem Bitar  champion of Call of Duty, Shawn Ian Joseph winner of Dance Central, Mohammed Faris his brilliant display of FIFA’11 skills and Ashhad Alvi for his astonishing Need for Speed- Shift abilities.

Commenting on being crowned champion of Dance Central, Shawn Ian Joseph said: “This has been a fantastic experience! The crowd has been amazing and the gaming extremely competitive. I’d like to thank LG for making 3D gaming a reality.”  Mohammed Faris winner of FIFA’11 added, “Gaming is a sport that takes dedication and concentration just like other activities. This event has brought the UAE gaming community together and showed residents just how amazing 3D technology is – a big thank you to LG.”

All four winners received an LG 3D winners pack including a 42" CINEMA 3D SMART TV, 3D laptop, Optimus 3D mobile phone, 3D monitor, a state-of-the-art gaming console in addition to a trophy and certificate. 

“This event has been a huge success – at times it looked like a pro-gaming event with high levels of skill on display,” stated Mr. D. Y. Kim, President of LG Electronics Gulf FZE. “Over the course of the last six months we have received an overwhelming response to the competition with great levels of support from the public who have cheered on many of the gamers in the bid to become champion. I would like to congratulate each and every winner and thank the gaming community in the UAE for their commitment and support.”

The event also acted as a platform for shoppers at Deria City Centre to explore LG’s latest technology by painting their pictures with LG Pentouch TV and transforming them into cartoons characters that were printed and framed to take home as a memory of the fun day. Other activities included the option to take part in the LG Smart Quiz using LG Cinema 3D Smart TV.
