UAE winners selected for regional round of “Life Tastes Good Championship 2009”
20 women from the United Arab Emirates battled it out on Thursday night in a thrilling culinary cook off as the national round of LG's "Life Tastes Good Championship 2009" concluded. Manal Hathat, Souad Jabri, and Farzaneh Zoleiman were selected as the individual winners, whilst Rabab Olabi and Magdes Bannel were chosen as the winning team.. The constants will now progress on to the regional round where they will face winning contestants from Saudi Arabia, Iran, Turkey and South Africa.
Each of the winning participants were asked to wow the judges, (INSERT NAMES) by creating two dishes, both a starter and a main course, or a main course and a desert in forty-five minutes using an LG light wave oven, the LG SolarDom.
The winners each received an LG SolarDom. In addition, all of the contestants who took part received an LG microwave in recognition of their contribution to the competition.
"All of the participants demonstrated creativity, imagination and a real flare for cooking," commented executive chef Ahmad Al Charif. "I was highly impressed with their culinary skills and it was extremely tough to select the finalists. All of the created recipes were innovative, whilst at the same time remaining nutritious which is extremely important. I wish the contestants the very best of luck as they progress on to the regional round."
Manal Hathat won for her stunning rendition of steamed rice and spicy fish. Souad Jabri impressed the judge with her delightful kabab with steamed vegetables recipe, whilst Farzaneh Soleiman created a delicious roads chicken with spices.
The regional phase of the competition is set to take place in Dubai on October 22nd at the intercontinental Hotel. This round will see the national winners from the five nations; UAE, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Turkey and South African, compete against one another for the chance to take part in the global championships in Thailand. Only three individuals and two teams will progress to the grand finale.
