LG AND BING LEE PROUD SPONSORS OF THE NEW WOMEN'S GOLF OPEN
Sydney, 28 January 2009 - LG Electronics Australia (LG), a global leader and provider of premium consumer electronics products, partnered with Bing Lee last weekend to present the 2009 LG Bing Lee Women's New South Wales Golf Open.
This is the third consecutive year that LG has been involved with one of the state's leading sporting events, which is the only international women's golfing tournament to take place in NSW as part of the Summer Down Under Series.
The event, held at the Oatlands Golf Club in Sydney's north-west from 23rd - 25th January 2009, attracted some of the world's best female golfers who competed for $125,000 in prize money.
Sarah Oh was the overall winner of the 2009 LG Bing Lee Women's New South Wales Open, followed by runner up and Australia's number two player, Katherine Hull. Murray Richardson from LG Electronics presented Oh with the trophy and first place prize money of $18,750.
This year's event saw a host of top calibre players taking part including last year's winner Laura Davies and Gwlayds Nocera from France, who is the current number one player on the Ladies European Tour.
LG Electronics was honored to co-sponsor this auspicious tournament with long-time retail partner Bing Lee.
Mr Soon Kwon, Managing Director, LG Electronics Australia said, "LG's established relationship with the late Ken Lee was one of admiration, and our love for the game of golf is mutual. Partnering with Bing Lee to promote the development of women's golf in Australia was a great opportunity. Just as players strive for excellence in their game, LG strives to deliver innovative products that compliment consumer's lifestyle."
Frances Crampton, CEO of Women's Golf New South Wales notes, "I'd like to thank LG, Bing Lee and the NSW Major Events Board for their continued support of Women's Golf. We are excited at the success of this year's tournament which saw so much new talent in the women's game. We look forward to next year's event and LG and Bing Lee's continued support."
As part of LG's involvement, the company donated a 42 inch LG Plasma Television which was auctioned to raise money for Ken Lee's nominated charity, the Victor Chang Foundation. The event raised over $5,000 for the charity. Over 5,500 people visited the Oatlands Golf Course over the two week period leading up to the event.
