LG TAKES HOME ENTERTAINMENT PICTURE QUALITY TO THE NEXT LEVEL LAUNCHING THE WORLD’S FIRST 84” ULTRA HIGH DEFINITION TV
Breaking New Ground with Ultra Definition*,
84” screen size, 2.2 speaker system, LG’s advanced 3D Technology and Smart TV Features
Sydney, October 9, 2012–LG Electronics (LG) today introduced its world’s first 84” Ultra High Definition (Ultra HD) TV in the Australian market. LG’s Ultra HD TV is the company’s response to growing consumer demand for larger, more immersive home TVs with improved picture quality and greater functionality.
The result is a remarkable TV with an enormous 84” screen. The innovative display technology of Ultra HD brings a resolution of 3840 x2160, as well as picture clarity four times higher than full HD when viewing ULTRA HD content and a 2.2 speaker system together to collectively set a new standard for home entertainment.
“The Ultra HD TV market is still in its infancy but it is important for LG to show leadership in this space,” said Lambro Skropidis, Marketing General Manager, LG Electronics Australia, “LG’s Ultra HD TV represents a technological breakthrough with a whole new level of home viewing experience because it offers a collection of the most advanced technology. Whilst Ultra HD is the stand-out feature, we think people are also going to be really interested in the benefits of LG’s Cinema Smart TV functions.”
LG Ultra HD TV boasts astonishing picture quality with an image that contains over eight million pixels, four times the High Definition of existing full HD TVs.
“The 84” is approximately the size of four 42” TVs with images rendered in spectacular detail”, Skropidis enthuses.
Bringing this exciting new experience to the 3D entertainment arena, LG has equipped its Ultra HD TV with CINEMA technology to ensure the impressively large display provides an incredibly immersive viewing experience. Depth Control allows viewers to fine-tune the ‘distance’ between near and far objects on the screen for a custom 3D experience. The 3D Sound Zooming feature analyses on-screen 3D objects and alters the sound level according to their location thus synchronising the audio the images on the screen.
The Ultra HD TV also includes LG’s Resolution Upscaler Plus, which allows images from current HD/SD external sources to be rendered in higher detail. This is a much needed solution to help stretch lower resolution files to a larger picture size.
LG’s Magic Remote with voice control allows users to intuitively access and navigates the Home Dashboard. LG’s Smart TV now includes approximately 400 apps and access to a growing community of premium content services such as 3D World with a wide array of movies and games. Even more media content can be accessed via external portable devices such as laptops, mobile phones, tablets, and flash memory drives to help connect to the home network using Smart Share Plus.
In addition, the embedded 2D to 3D conversion engine expands the availability of content. Dual Play takes head-to-head game play to a whole new level of sophistication by allowing opponents to sit side-by-side and simultaneously see different images on the same screen. With Dual Play, split-screen gaming is a thing of the past and both gamers get to enjoy the whole 84” screen.
LG’s Ultra HD TV also features a 2.2 speaker system consisting of left and right 10W speakers and two 15W woofers this reinforces the sound to produce a rich audio experience that suitably complements the extraordinary visuals produced by the massive screen.
LG’s 84” Ultra HD TV will be available in Australia from late November 2012.
RRP: $15,999 (Price subject to variation)
