Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Phone - Pity About The OS Update I like the phone, it works well, has all the bits & pieces I want, camera is good, reception is good (sometimes echoey) but LG haven't updated the opertaing system to Ice Cream Sandwich & they can't say when it will be updated so I can't rate it a 5.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Problem Phone The phone has excelent characteristics but is very flawed. If it loses signal it will automatically disconect from the network. Never to reconect without a hard reset (imagine going into an elevator or garage and your phone unsuspectinglly switches off?), the fix is set it to GSM and 2G...AND THIS IS A SMART PHONE? How can we give this phone any consideration if it doesnt work? Why buy a smart LG has no fix for this, even though the problem is 2 years old and is well documented in many internet forums,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best phone on market. I looked for 2 weeks to upgrade my LG GT540 and the LG P990 was the best I could find. First I needed a camera above 5MP so 8MP is good. The battery 1500mah is c@#p but there is a 2430mah on ebay and a 3500mah which I got but it has a new backplate because the battery is so big. It's a Android so you need power ;). Now I can play games for hrs and be on G3 all day with WiFi on and GPS and make phone calls and text all day and not have a dead battery at all. This phone is expandable which is very very good. Using "Cool Reader" for ebooks is great on this phone. I payed $350au for a unlocked unbranded with little blotware, it was eazy to ROOT and to install programs. Adding a 32GB micro sd card allows 5GB of the sd card to be system ram for programs "app2sd". If you are on a budget and want a first class mobile with the option of a big battery this is the phone for you. I love this phone.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from LG Optimus 2X There is a lot to like about LG's first dual-core smartphone. The combination of its superb display and excellent performance should be enough to satisfy most people looking for a top-tier smartphone, but once you add its excellent media playback and HDMI output, we think you'll find a phone that represents excellent value, especially at LG's RRP of AU$649. It's not quite perfect, of course. We wish the camera was better and we'd like to see more internal storage included, plus its physical design lacks the flair we had come to expect from LG's design team, but these are minor quibbles in regards to everything this phone does right. Plus, a quick scan of the XDA forums suggests this is an easy phone to root and tinker with, an important consideration if you're looking for a phone to modify with custom software. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better than an iPhone :-) This beats my brother's iPhone hands down. Although my first purchase of a 'Smartphone' this is a fantastic device that seems to do all it promises - apart from the battery life only being 1.5 - 2 days. The camera takes some brilliant shots and the flash is powerful enough to light up an entire room full of faces - although it is so bright that portrait shots of individuals with the flash on will have them seeing stars. I LOVE that I can text message with the option of a classic 1-9 keypad and T9 dictionary instead of being stuck with no option but qwerty - and the user dictionary that allows you to add your own words to the T9 is brilliant. Local place and people's names, personal abbreviations and industry-specific codes and acronyms can be added or removed at will - although a way to add words to the dictionary while actually typing a message or email would make it absolutely perfect. The only downside I've come across is the battery life, despite turning off the most power-hungry applications and lowering the screen brightness the standby time with a bit of texting still only gives me a day and a half to two days of life. I have only had the phone for a week and a half so I am hoping this improves through more charge cycles.
