It was formed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in 1992, as part of energy-saving and greenhouse gas reduction efforts. The majority of LG Electronics' products meet the Energy Star standard. For example, the battery charger for handsets produced for the U.S. market fulfills 100% of the Energy Star requirements

LG Air Conditioners and Energy Efficiency
Many LG Air Conditioners use the latest energy-saving technology to meet the Energy Star standard. Therefore, consumers who use an LG unit both reduce the carbon emissions of their household and lower their monthly energy bills.
The 4-stage system features a large, permanent filter and an electronic air purifier that captures microscopic contaminants like dust, mite, pollen, and pet fur.
Multi Power System™
Our twin compressors save energy, as one operates at 60% capacity until your desired temperature is reached, then a second maintains cool at 40% capacity.
Auto Operation
Automatically sets air conditioner temperature and fan speed for three levels of comfort.
Temperature Display
Shows room temperature of interior unit.
Dehumidifying Mode
Indoor unit accurately senses room temperature and controls humidity by shutting down the compressor before a room is over-cooled.
Auto Sleep Mode
Automatically increases the air conditioner temperature setting by 2º F twice (after ½ hour and 1 hour), then shuts off when the timer setting is reached.
