LG Electronics Canada announces endorsement deal with PGA TOUR star Stephen Ames

Consumer electronics leader unveils partnership with top Canadian golfer at RBC Canadian Open
 
Mississauga, Ontario, July 22, 2008 ? Proving that Life’s Good when you’re on the golf green, LG Electronics Canada has announced an exclusive Canadian endorsement contract with Calgary-based PGA TOUR star Stephen Ames.

The deal will run through the end of 2009 and will allow LG Canada to use Ames' image and likeness in advertising, PR and promotional materials across all forms of media. Ames' golf caddy will also bear the LG logo on his hat for the remaining dates on Ames' 2008 PGA TOUR schedule.

Ames is no stranger to the LG brand, having won the LG Skins Game tournament in both 2006 and 2007. He also appeared at LG Open de Montreal charity golf event in Montreal in September 2007.

“LG is an easy company to get behind because of the quality and style of their products,” says Ames, a 20-year veteran of the professional golf circuit with over $10-million in career earnings. “I learned a lot about what LG does through the LG Skins Game and I look forward to working closely with their team. Both the products they offer and the people they employ are top notch.”

The endorsement deal between Ames and LG will be unveiled today at the RBC Canadian Open golf tournament, currently underway at the Glen Abbey Golf Club in Oakville, Ontario.

To celebrate his relationship with LG Canada, Stephen will be conducting an autograph signing at the LG tent as part of the RBC Canadian Open on Thursday, July 24 at 7:00 p.m. LG will also be donating $25,000 to the Stephen Ames Foundation, a not-for-profit organization that provides funding for junior golf programs.

In other golf news from LG Electronics Canada, the company has announced a new online promotion where visitors to the LG Canada website can win a trip for two to Indian Wells, California to see the 2008 LG Skins Game in person. Contest winners will receive free admission to the event, a chance to play a round at the exclusive Indian Wells Golf Resort and attend a private golf clinic hosted by Stephen Ames himself. The contest kicks off on August 5, 2008 and participants can enter free of charge at www.LG.ca.
