LG ELECTRONICS CANADA REAFFIRMS STRONG COMMITMENT TO CANADA~SNOWBOARD

World Leader in consumer electronics confirms support of Canada’s top snowboard athletes during one of the most important seasons for the Canadian Snowboard Team

(West Vancouver, BC – December 13, 2009) Today LG Electronics Canada strengthened its existing relationship with Canada~Snowboard by reconfirming its support of the team through a tier 1 national team partnership. As the highest level of sponsor, LG Electronics Canada is now the Official Consumer Electronics, Large Appliances, Mobile Handsets, and Laptop Computers sponsor of the Canadian Snowboard Team for the 2009/2010 season.

We are delighted to have been a part of the team for the last two years, and are thrilled to increase our sponsorship this season with just two months to go before one of the most important events in Canadian sports history,” says Frank Lee, Corporate Marketing and Sponsorship Manager for LG Electronics Canada. “LG Electronics Canada prides itself on being a world leader in consumer electronics so we are excited to continue our work with Canada~Snowboard and support our athletes on the world stage.”

In addition to the sponsorship, LG Electronics Canada also announced today, the availability of the “Life’s Good” athlete biography videos now accessible at www.YouTube.com/user/LGteamCanada, www.LG.ca and www.canadasnowboard.ca. Exclusive live action, competition and training b-roll of the Canadian Snowboard team is also available as assets for interested media.

“Innovative partnerships such as this one with LG Electronics Canada are a clear indicator that we are supported in the pursuit of our dreams,” said Maëlle Ricker from Squamish, British Columbia, winner of the first snowboardcross race of the 2010 LG Snowboard FIS World Cup Tour in Bariloche, and Argentina earlier in September. “We can always count on LG to provide us with the tools needed to win, especially as we get ready to provide peak performances in February.”

To help celebrate the holiday season, LG Electronics Canada also proudly presented each Canada Snowboard National Team member with his or her own LG X120 Netbook. Athletes will be able to stay connected to friends and family as they travel to the remaining LG FIS Snowboard World Cup competitions in Stoneham, Quebec and Calgary, Alberta in January. Life’s good leading into February 2010 when these Canadian athletes will take snowboarding to the International sporting stage!

“With the continued and increased support we have received from LG entering this crucial season, we can truthfully say that Life’s Good -even better- for our Canadian snowboarders,” said Tom McIllfaterick, Chief Executive Officer at Canada~Snowboard. “Snowboarding is a great platform for partners to showcase their brands. We offer brands access to a youth-oriented and energetic market along with exciting hosting and measureable retail promotional opportunities. Our sport has a tremendous amount of interest as snowboarding earned the second total television audience at the 2006 Torino Olympic Winter Games.”

The Canadian Snowboard Team enters the 2010 LG Snowboard FIS World Cup Tour following its best ever international results with 26 medals, including a World Championship title by alpine rider Jasey-Jay Anderson of Mont-Tremblant, Quebec. Last season on the LG Snowboard FIS World Cup tour, 13 snowboarders stepped on the podium 23 times, including victories in all three official Olympic disciplines.

In addition to its Canadian sponsorship, LG Electronics announced earlier this summer their continuing support to the International Ski Federation (FIS) as world-wide title sponsor of LG Snowboard FIS World Cup.

The 2010 LG Snowboard FIS World Cup kicked off August 25th in Cardrona (NZE) with the presentation of a halfpipe event and will run through March 21st with the World Cup Finals in La Molina (SPA). In total, the LG Snowboard FIS World Cup calendar will showcase 55 events at 19 resorts in 14 countries on five continents (North America, South America, Europe, Asia and Australia). The LG Snowboard FIS World Cup Tour showcases 10 Alpine events, seven Snowboardcross events, seven Halfpipe events, five Big Air events and one Slopestyle event taking place in Calgary, Alberta in January.
