What People Are Saying

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Brittle plastic We bought our fridge in 2009 and 2 years later we had a similar problem with the plastic parts of the main shelves. We do not over burden the shelves yet when we removed the shelves to clean them the plastic parts started cracking. Out door pockets have held up ok - no broken parts yet. I'm finally looking into replacement parts but by pricing out all the pieces I have to replace, I might as well buy a new fridge. We really like layout and overall design of the fridge - especially the pull out bottom freezer drawer, but plastic bits seem brittle.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good but could be better All good except for the simple door light that stopped working in its 4th year of operation. From what I could learn this is because the door switch does not make proper contact when the door is opened. The switch has a little tab that comes out when door is open and goes in when the door is closed. I found that pulling on this tab the lights do come on but otherwise they remain off. This is the first time I see this type of failure in a fridge at any cost level. The switch is positioned higher up on the right vertical wall which is not OK for when you have the door swinging out to the left to open. In my opinion this is a design error. Otherwise it runs well, very quiet and economical.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality shelving I purchased this product in 2010. I have had no problems with the compressor. But the quality of the plastic of the shelving is horrible. I have already spent $500 in replacement parts and only that amount because I have endured broken tablets for years for fear that they would keep breaking as I purchased replacement parts. The bottom door tablet was replaced two years after the purchase. A year later, it was broken again. The entire bottom shelf drawers were completely cracked as well as the whole unit supporting the bottom shelf. All the other shelves are chipped and cracked, but I will wait till they are unuseable before replacing them. And at the point, I will probably purchase another refrigerator that is not LG. We do not abuse our refrigerator, yet it looks like a couple of bricks were thrown in as the fridge was moved for a long distance - WE HAVE NEVER MOVED THIS REFRIGERATOR! I have never owned a refrigerator that was this poorly made in my life.
