TV- Connecting External Device- HTS/Sound Bar

CONNECTING EXTERNAL DEVICES - HOME THEATER SYSTEM/SOUND BAR

Home Theater System

To connect a home theater system to a TV so that the TV’s sound is transmitted to the audio receiver, an Optical Digital Audio cable is necessary or, if both TV and HTS feature HDMI version 1.4 ARC (Audio Return Channel) is another option.

The optical digital audio cable will connect the two devices by inserting the Optical cable into the Optical Digital Audio Out connection on the television and then to the Optical Digital Audio In port on the Home Theater System.

Note: The TV speakers will sometimes need to be disabled before audio is obtained by this type of connection.

Sound Bar

To connect a sound bar to a TV so that the TV’s sound is transmitted to the bar, an Optical Digital Audio cable is necessary.

The optical digital audio cable will connect the two devices by inserting the Optical cable into the Optical Digital Audio Out port on the television and then to the Optical Digital Audio In port on the Sound Bar.

Note: The TV speakers will sometimes need to be disabled before audio is obtained by this type of connection.

HDMI (ARC) - Audio Return Channel

As long as the Audio System supports HDMI ARC as well as the Flat Panel Display (usually indicated besides the HDMI 1 input port at the rear or side of TV) simply hook up the Home Theatre System or Sound Bar's HDMI output to the television's HDMI 1 (ARC) input jack. Whenever wishing to obtain the sound from any video source connected to the television to the Home Theatre System simply choose the input as ARC from the Home Theatre System's input menu.

This is the simplest way to enjoy surround sound from a device capable of delivering said sound format to match the large scale image quality appearing on the big screen TV.

Note: The TV speakers will sometimes need to be disabled before audio is obtained by this type of connection.
