LOUD NOISE FURTHER TO NEW
Is the refrigerator noisy after installation?
When a refrigerator is installed for the first time, the compressor and its cooling fan motor risk
being quite loud as the temperature inside is rather warm. Level of noise will reduce once the
temperature of the refrigerator compartment lowers substantially.
When the inside of the refrigerator is insufficiently cool the compressor and fan motor will run at
high speed to transfer heat out which may cause loud noise. Modern, high efficiency compressors
operate much faster than older models. The compressor may have a high pitched hum, whine or
pulsating sound. Noise level may differ pending house structure, location of the refrigerator, floor
material and levelling of appliance.
It takes approximately 8 to 12 hours to produce sufficient cool air required to transfer out warm
air inside refrigerator by circulating refrigerant when the appliance is used for the first time.
Noise may be high as the compressor and fan motor run at high speed to get the freezer
compartment temperature below -20 degrees Celsius.
