PREVENTING WATER FROM FREEZING IN YOUR WASHING MACHINE

During the winter season, if water freezes in the washer or in your home's water pipes normal wash functions may be impaired or an IE error code may display. The following guidelines will help ensure that residual water that may reside in your washer's drain hose, pump filter, or water line connections doesn't freeze during times of extremely cold temperatures.

NOTE: If water has already frozen in the lines wait until it is warm enough to melt before using the machine. If possible, protect the home's water pipes by winterizing them with pipe insulation.

To prepare the washer for extremely cold weather:

1. Close both the hot and cold water taps, disconnect the hoses from the taps, and then drain water from the hoses into a sink or a bucket.

2. Drain any residual water from the drum into a pan or small bowl by opening the lower cover cap found at the bottom left side of the washer and uncapping the manual drain hose.

3. Once all the residual water has been drained, remove the drain hose from drain pipe and place it on the floor next to the washer.

NOTE: Before doing your next load of laundry, remember to re-install the drain hose in the drain pipe correctly. Also reconnect both the hot and cold hoses to the proper taps.
