WARNING!

Older phones (pre-Smart aka Flip phones) despite featuring USB connectivity, such would only support charging the phone even hooked up to a computer.

At the time, there were really only two types of flip phones: those that featured possibility of inserting external micro SD memory card for additional file storage and those that didn’t.

Flip phones featuring micro SD card slot are recommended to store multimedia files on an external micro SD card in view of converting to a newer phone or sharing these multimedia files or keeping them for posterity purposes.

As for the other type of flip phones, unfortunately, the only way to transfer multimedia files over to a computer is to send files, one by one, via Bluetooth. Because of the Bluetooth limitations at the time, completion of file transferring may require a free software known as “BlueSoleil” which is a Bluetooth driver for Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems.

Smart phones have really come a long way in a very short period of time and as such have created incompatibility support issues moving forward resulting in awkward situations.
