Showing how it’s taking the concept of home appliances in entirely new directions, LG will also be lifting the curtain on a range of inspirational online tools and mobile appli-cations. This groundbreaking new initiative will offer services and tips that enable con-sumers to do household chores in smarter, more creative ways, thereby freeing up time to do the things that are really important.
«LG has long been committed to elevating home appliances above the realm of the functional to add something better to consumers’ lives,» said Young-ha Lee, President and CEO of LG Home Electronics Home Appliance Company. «With the groundbreak-ing 6 Motion enabled by our next generation Inverter Direct Drive Motor, LG washers provide a world-class washing performance, with a clean so delicate yet thorough you’d swear it had been done by hand. And with our ground-breaking Solar Combi -- the first in the world to include a Charcoal Heater in the oven -- consumers can have the taste of natural cooking and enjoy tastier, healthier, chef-quality cuisine in their own homes.»
As the centerpiece of LG’s stand in Hall 1.1, the Core Tech zone will offer interactive demonstrations of LG’s core technologies and the benefits they can bring to consumers. The zone will also lead directly to individual zones demonstrating each flagship product equipped with LG’s innovative core-technologies. Highlights of LG’s IFA 2010 line-up include:
Refrigerators: LG Brings a Fresh Food Market Into Your Kitchen'
With its newest range of refrigerators, LG will be revealing the outstanding benefits of its innovative Linear Compressor technology.
At the top of the range is LG’s brand-new bottom-freezer. This appliance’s massive 385-liter capacity storage area – the largest in its class – provides 50 liters more space in a standard unit, or the equivalent of 72 soft drink cans. And thanks to the Linear Com-pressor, the bottom-freezer keeps the interior temperature extremely steady – keeping food as fresh as it is in a grocery store – while using up to 28 percent less energy than a regular A+-rated fridge. With efficiency like this, LG’s new bottom freezer allows con-sumers to reduce their electricity costs by up to 615 Euros (803 USD) over 10 years compared with A-rated refrigerators1.
More impressive still, LG’s new fridge keeps vegetables and fruit fresher for longer thanks to its Opti Temp Zone and Vita Light Zone, which have been officially endorsed by SLG Prüf-und Zertifizierungs GmbH, a leading German test laboratory. With its huge capacity and fresh storage space, consumers will feel like they have the choice of a whole grocery store in their own kitchen. And as a testament to its supreme durability, the Linear Compressor on LG’s bottom freezer comes with a 10-year warranty.
Washing Machines: LG’s Unique 6 Motion Treats Your Clothes More Delicately
LG’s newest washing machines come with the company’s groundbreaking, new genera-tion Inverter Direct Drive technology and its outstanding 6 Motion technology.
Thanks to the Inverter Direct Drive, most new LG washing machines offer a bumper capacity of 11kg in a standard 24-inch cabinet. The technology also delivers the twin benefits of cutting noise levels to just 54dB, and reducing energy use by up to 30 per-cent compared with other A-rated washing machines. In addition, the Inverter Direct Drive demonstrates its exceptional reliability with a 10-year warranty.
Enabled by LG’s new generation Inverter Direct Drive, the machines’ unique 6 Motion – with a controlled spin speed, precise movement of the inner drum and left and right movement – provides a range of cycles that are optimized for different types of fabrics.
The 6 Motion also reduces washing powder residue on clothes more effectively than regular models. What’s more, the 6 Motion helps clothes soak in highly concentrated powders more evenly, making the machine very effective at protecting against shrin-kage of wooly-textured garments. By delivering a wash that is as gentle as it is thorough, the 6 Motion goes beyond mere washing to ensure the stylish look that consumers want.
Cooking Appliances: Make Cooking More Natural and Healthy with LG’s Revolu-tionary Solar Combi
By showing off its new generation of Lightwave technology appliances at IFA 2010, LG will also be demonstrating how its convenient cooking appliances can deliver chef-quality food with a more natural taste in the comfort of home.
This year, LG is unveiling its Solar Combi, the world’s first oven to be fitted with a Charcoal Heater and T-stabilizer. By using charcoal as its heat source, the new oven enables consumers to cook food that is more natural, and brings healthier, tastier dishes to the table.
The oven’s Charcoal Heater helps maintain a natural flow of heat that penetrates deep into foods while also keeping them moist. This helps make grilled dishes as delicious as anything created in a restaurant. Meanwhile, the Naturalflow Convention and T-stabilizer let consumers cook gourmet food more easily by adjusting the optimal tem-perature and maintaining more even cooking. Just as important, the Solar Combi cuts energy bills by up to 30 percent compared with conventional ovens, while also saving on cooking time.
Vacuum Cleaners: Capturing Even Hidden Dust and Dirt Lurking on Floors
Also on show at IFA will be LG’s newest vacuum cleaners fitted with the company’s revolutionary KOMPRESSOR technology and its intelligent robotic vacuum cleaner as well. By enabling thorough and effortless cleaning, KOMPRESSOR technology ensures consumers’ homes will be as hygienic as well as clean.
Top of the bill is LG’s KOMPRESSOR Elite, which uses long-lasting suction power with simple and hygienic dust control to capture visible dirt, hidden dust2 and grime. With the world’s first motorized dust compressing system, the KOMPRESSOR Elite ef-fectively reduces dust particles escaping back into the atmosphere, thus creating a cleaner and healthier home environment. In addition, a unique Power Punch flushes out mites and fine dust by tapping the surface of bedding nearly 3,000 times a minute.
In addition, the Hom-Bot, LG’s unrivaled robotic vacuum cleaner, helps consumers clean the entire floor with a minimum of effort. With its unique combination of a cam-era, ultrasonic and infrared sensors, the robotic vacuum cleaner can find its way into every nook and corner. Thanks to its unique dual camera sensors, the machine navigates to any spot in the home and cleans faster and smarter than other robotic cleaners. Its low noise levels to 60dB(A) also makes cleaning less intrusive. When finished, the Hom-Bot returns automatically to its docking station to recharge its battery. The Hom-Bot uses long-lasting, Li-PB battery without any memory effect, contrary to Ni-MH battery used by most robotic cleaners. LG Hom-bot is another way in which LG’s smart innovations are enriching consumers’ lives and leading the way to easier, less time-consuming chores.
Dishwashers: Superb Cleaning Performance with TrueSteam Technology
At this year’s IFA, LG will also be launching its new dishwasher, featuring the compa-ny’s unparalleled Inverter Direct Drive and TrueSteam technologies, whose deep-down cleaning makes worries about prewashing a thing of the past. With LG’s advanced TrueSteam technology using three dedicated steam cycles – Steam Power, Steam Gentle and Steam Dual Intensity – the new dishwasher delivers sparkling clean results and pro-vides a more convenient and hygienic washing. Also, with its unique built-in steam ge-nerator, the washer dissolves even the toughest of food residue and removes resistant stains, such as lipstick, from fragile items.
Better still, while ensuring suberb cleaning performance, LG’s innovative Inverter Di-rect Drive uses less energy and water, meaning consumers will be doing their bit to im-prove the environment. And as well as bringing noise levels down to just 38dBA, the Inverter Direct Drive Motor comes with a 10-year warranty, meaning that customers will be paying far less for maintenance.
Built-in Appliances: LG Unveils Green Kitchen Packed With Green Innovations
With LG’s green innovations brought together in built-in ovens, hobs, hoods, micro-wave ovens, refrigerators and dishwashers, LG kitchens make full use of the company’s unique core technologies to add something better. The welcome result is eco-friendlier functions in a well-designed, premium package.
At IFA 2010, LG is also highlighting the MontBlanc Line, a new function on its Lightwave Ovens that provides directions and settings for the recipes developed by Guy Martin, a renowned Michelin-star-rated French chef. With the greatest of ease and con-venience, the MontBlanc Line lets consumers bring an array of exquisite world cuisines right onto their kitchen table. In this way, Lightwave Ovens are providing something better for consumers, with smart and convenient appliances brought together in a single package.
To provide further details of its exhibit at IFA 2010, LG will be holding a press confe-rence on September 1 at 4:00pm in Hall 1.1, two days prior to the trade show’s public opening. With State-of-the-Art Sensor Technology, New Hom-Bot Vacuum Cleaner Delivers Faster, Smarter, Deeper Cleaning
LG Electronics (LG) will unveil a new, updated version of its state-of-the-art robotic vacuum cleaner at IFA 2010 in Berlin. With its unique combina-tion of camera, and ultrasonic and infrared sensors, the robotic cleaner finds its way into every nook and corner of your floors, making cleaning a truly effortless job. The Hom-Bot enhances the quality of consumers lives, by quietly doing the work and giving con-sumers more free time to enjoy the important things in life – such as family and friends.
«We listen closely to what consumers say they want, and we also go to great lengths to work out their unstated needs and desires as well,» said Young-ha Lee, President and CEO of LG Electronics Home Appliance Company. «As the result of these insights, we designed the Hom-Bot - the perfect choice for consumers with a hectic daily schedule.»
Making cleaning effortless and efficient, the Hom-Bot’s smart features mean that cus-tomers need hardly move, while the vacuum cleaner gets on with the work of cleaning. Robotic cleaners are dynamic, space-aware devices that need to move in a three-dimensional environment. When a robotic cleaner is making its way around a room, a single obstacle – such as maneuvering around a chair – requires significant adjustment to its movements. To handle these kinds of demands, the Hom-Bot, LG’s most state-of-the-art robotic cleaner yet, boasts exceptional intelligence and sensory systems.
Using its unique dual-camera sensors, LG Hom-Bot navigates around the area to be cleaned by calculating many times per second the best path for maximum cleaning. And since Hom-Bot remembers where it has been, it cleans faster and more efficiently than other robotic cleaners on the market. Better yet, thanks to its low noise levels (60dB(A)), consumers can enjoy Hom-Bot’s cleaning without distraction.
HomeBot is not available at Swiss Market for the moment.
LG Electronics (LG) will be showcasing the KOMPRESSOR Elite, its latest premium vacuum cleaner, at IFA 2010 in Berlin. In addition to the world’s first motorised compressor, the KOMPRESSOR vacuum cleaner comes with the most advanced, health-conscious technology, making cleaning more thorough than ever by cleaning up hidden dirt and grime from the floor.
With the world’s first motorised dust compressing system, LG’s KOMPRESSOR helps deliver a deep-down clean, thanks to long-lasting suction power, and simple and hygienic dust control. By compressing dust into compact wedges, the KOMPRESSOR significant-ly reduces dust cloud during disposal, meaning less effort emptying the bin.
By adding enhanced health-conscious features – such as the «Power Punch» mattress tool, steam mopping and the HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filtration system – the KOMPRESSOR Elite delivers more than just exceptional vacuuming. As well as extract-ing pollutants and irritants from the air, these exceptional features steam clean the floor – picking up stubborn grime that may be lurking – making the KOMPRESSOR Elite ideal for health-conscious consumers everywhere.
«LG always seeks to develop better cleaning technologies that help our consumers live healthier and more hygienic lives,» said Young-ha Lee, President and CEO of LG Elec-tronics Home Appliance Company. «LG’s unique, innovative KOMPRESSOR technolo-gy is a prime example of this, with health-conscious features such as the Power Punch that create a cleaner home environment by capturing hidden dirt and dust1 lurking in your home. For the style-conscious consumer who also pursues a healthy lifestyle, LG’s KOMPRESSOR Elite meets their needs through its stylish design and ergonomic shape. With less effort and time spent for cleaning, consumers will have more quality time to themselves.»
Care for Your Family with Health-Conscious Features
The KOMPRESSOR Elite’s unique «Power Punch» feature greatly reduces mites and fine dust by punching the surface of bedding nearly 3,000 times a minute, giving con-sumers greater peace of mind about the hygiene of their home fabrics. Further augment-ing the health-conscious features, a Steam Mop delivers a chemical-free, deep steam clean through an all-in-one nozzle that vacuums and mops at the same time. As well as providing a healthier clean, the Steam Mop greatly reduces cleaning time, too.
The KOMPRESSOR Elite is also fitted with highly efficient HEPA filtration system, which traps dust particles and allergens measuring 0.3 microns or smaller – comfortably powerful enough to capture the particles in cigarette smoke. These benefits are especially helpful for households with pets, young children or people suffering from skin allergies.
Less Energy Consumption, More Silent Operation
With its low power consumption motor, the LG KOMPRESSOR Elite allows consumers to save money in electricity bills while also helping out with the environment. In addition, with a dual noise absorber that encases the motor, the LG KOMPRESSOR Elite signifi-cantly reduces cleaning noise levels from 78 dB(A) to 72 dB(A) for more silent LG vac-uum cleaning compared to previous generation models. KOMPRESSOR Elite is not available at Swiss Market for the moment.
Makes Cleaning More Enjoyable
Among the KOMPRESSOR Elite’s other features, advanced bearing wheels reduce fric-tion making it easier to move the machine, while a 9-metre power cable allows consum-ers to clean even large rooms without having to unplug and plug in the vacuum cleaner. Furthermore, the Turbo Cyclone System gathers dust into a simple single container before the air is filtered, thereby enhancing the performance of the compressor. Taken to-gether, all these features add up to what LG’s best vacuum cleaner is yet.

With this advance, LG’s 6 Motion delivers a world-class cleaning perfor-mance, with position and speed control that are up to 10 times more precise than con-ventional washers.1 By providing specialised care for every different kind of fabric, 6 Motion gives clothes a deeper, yet gentler clean than a regular wash, thus keeping cus-tomers looking stylish, while also making their lives easier.
«At LG, we maintain a relentless focus on finding out what our customers want, and then reflecting those desires and needs into products that enrich their lives,» said Young-ha Lee, President and CEO of LG Electronics Home Appliance Company. «Born of the new generation Inverter Direct Drive, the groundbreaking 6 Motion tech-nology let’s LG’s washing machines demonstrate their technological excellence through an enhanced washing performance, with an additional five drum motions in addition to standard tumbling. LG’s signature Steam Technology also ensures a wash that is deeper, more hygienic and more gentle, all at the same time. With features like these, we feel very confident that we have the technology to deliver real improvements to customers’ lives.»
6 Motion – Great Washes Whatever Fabric
With its cutting-edge 6 Motion technology, LG has added even better cleaning options to its top-end washing machines. With settings for «rolling,» «filtration,» «scrub,» «swing» and «stepping» as well as the standard tumbling, the 6 Motion technology en-hances washing performance by offering optimal movement, depending on the type of fabric and washing cycle. Especially, the scrub motion is very effective at dissolving de-tergents and washing powder residue, making the machine far better at rinsing than conventional, tumble-only machines. In addition, the delicate care settings, such as «fil-tration» and «Swing» soak clothes more evenly and are considerably better at protecting woolly-textured clothes than conventional models.
True Steam Technology for Healthier, More Hygienic Washing
Using a Steam Generator, LG’s unrivaled TrueSteam Technology penetrates deep into fibres to deliver a wash that is as thorough as it is delicate. The technology also ensures the temperature stays at 60 degrees, thereby providing the optimum washing tempera-ture while minimising damage to fabrics. Also, the Steam Generator uses the minimum amount of water and energy required when making steam. LG’s TrueSteam Technology also helps eliminate allergens, mites and even detergent residue, providing enormous re-lief to people with allergies or sensitive skin. With certification from the British Allergy Foundation and the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, TrueSteam Technolo-gy is just one more way in which LG is helping customers take care of themselves and their families.
Ultra-large Capacity Washer Makes Life Simpler
Combining the Inverter Direct Drive, an innovative damping system, and a fixed outer tub, LG’s large-capacity washing machines offer total efficiency with even the heaviest of loads. By maximising interior space, LG washing machines can accommodate an 11kg wash load – the industry’s largest – and a 78-litre drum in a standard 24-inch cabinet. For families with big, regular wash loads but no more space for a bigger machine, LG washing machines offer the perfect answer. Better still, the Inverter Direct Drive System increases the motor's stability by eliminating the belt and pulley found in con-ventional washer motors. As a measure of confidence in its reliability, LG offers a 10-year warranty for its direct drive motors.
Less Noise, More Efficiency
Thanks to the Inverter Direct Drive and a smart inner structure, LG’s new washing ma-chine reduces vibration while also dropping noise levels to less than a normal conversa-tion.2 More impressive still is LG’s washing machines’ exceptional energy efficiency, enabling users to cut their energy usage by up to 30 percent over other A-rated washing machines thanks to its Inverter Direct Drive and Steam Technology.3 Even by the stan-dards of the European Energy Label, LG’s washing machines are one of the most ener-gy efficient.

LG’s advanced Opti Temp Zone function enables two variable control compartments to optimise the temperature depending on the type of food – 1℃ for fish and meat, 2 ℃ for vegetables and fruits. Available in select European markets, LG’s Vita Light Zone – en-dorsed by SLG Prüf- und Zertifizierungs GmbH, a major German body that certifies electronic goods – works in tandem with an internal LED light to ensure vegetables and fruits remain fresh and packed with vitamins and nutrients. A special lattice-type box cover called Moist Balance Crisper maintains optimum moisture levels, while LG’s Fresh 0 Zone function offers a freshly chilled space that helps keeping fresh meat or fish for longer.
Convenient Features, Stylish Design, Upgraded Lives
As well as boosting freshness, the bottom freezer refrigerator improves convenience and hygiene with its superb Auto Ice and Water Solutions. The refrigerator is specially de-signed to accommodate a bottled water dispenser without the need to clean and purify the water tank. LG’s Automatic Ice Maker, a non-plumbing system that does not require a direct connection to water, lets consumers make large amounts of ice by merely pour-ing water into the water tank.
In addition, LG's bottom-freezer refrigerator is comfortable and pleasant to use thanks to the LG Total No Frost System, which delivers extremely fast and even cooling. This multi air flow system spreads cool air throughout the interior, making every fridge space suitable for fresh food storage. As well as keeping food fresher for longer, the Total No Frost System also ensures the interior stays cleaner, more hygienic, and odour-free, while also offering big cuts in energy costs thanks to its superb energy savings.
The two-tone finish of the bottom freezer adds a modern, simple and sophisticated look to the kitchen, while blending in seamlessly with other appliances. LG’s exterior touch LCD LED displays are easier to read, while strips of bright LED lighting inside the re-frigerator clearly illuminate the bottom freezer’s furthest recesses. With a wide range of colour options and finishes including stainless steel, brushed steel, titanium and silver and white, LG’s bottom freezer accentuates the classiness of today’s modern kitchen.

Using an ad-vanced inverter controller, consumers can adjust the optimal temperature from low to high, while also maintaining a steady temperature throughout the whole process, which helps improve energy efficiency. Thanks to this unique LG technology, consumers can make highly nutritious foods in the comfort of their own kitchen while maximising taste. In addition, consumers can make grilled food as delicious as if it had been prepared by a professional chef thanks to the gradual temperature change on the oven’s grill setting.
Along with its charcoal heater, LG’s innovative Naturalflow Convection boosts the oven’s heating system while saving energy and time. Using a new Crossflow fan design, LG’s Naturalflow Convection maximises airflow inside the oven, ensuring a better cir-culation of air for more even, delicious and healthy cooking, along with big savings in cooking time and a reduction of up to 30 percent energy consumption compared to con-ventional ovens.
More Stand Outs on the Solar Combi
As well as making cooking simpler, the Solar Combi makes cleaning easier too with LG’s unique Clear Coating. Thanks to a special coating on its interior, similar to the one found on LG’s other Lightwave Ovens, the oven is simple to wipe clean of food residue even after cooking the greasiest of foods. In addition, other user-friendly features, such as an attractive pull-down door and an interactive user-interface display, make homecooking with the oven even more enjoyable. And with Air Diffusion and a Circulation system, which serve to mix the air at the top and bottom of the oven, the Solar Combi is also great for cooking two dishes at once.
