LG Refrigerator - Customer Feel Static & Leakage current

Troubleshooting

Customer Feel Static & Leakage current

Symptom

Flow of electrical current can be felt when touched. Static shock. Shooting pain when you touch..

Cause

1.Sensitivity Fault: The intensity of the shock they feel differs by people.

2.Poor Grounding: If it is not grounded properly, you might feel mild electric shock. → LG Electronics manages to sustain the current below what is restricted by International Standard so that it will ensure customer’s safety even though they do not have grounded outlet.

  How to fix

▶If you are the only person who feels the shock, it might be a static electric shock. It occurs more often when the weather is dry, and the intensity of the shock differs by people.

▶ When it is humid in summer or if your skin contacts a refrigerator, it might give you a mild electric shock. Try to plug into grounded outlet and see if it gets better. If not, contact the customer service.

▶ Though grounded, there are cases it is not connected properly. Try to plug in the power cord in a reverse position.

▶ If you still feel insecure, you can connect wire to the plate at the back or front of refrigerator, then connect it to where it can be grounded(metal water pipe or cable TV outlet electrical box). Then the current will be minimized.

▶  If you feel it too much, contact the customer service immediately.

- Mild electric shock when touching the door

Is your outlet grounded? If it is not grounded, miniscule amount of current can be generated but it is harmless to human body. (International standard requires below 1.5mA, but LG Refrigerator is being managed below 0.3mA.)

If your outlet is not grounded, or though grounded if the ground rod is not connected properly, you might feel miniscule amount of current when your skin contacts the refrigerator door. But it is harmless to human body. It is similar to the feeling you have when you suddenly hold the car door handle or wear sweater.

Though grounded, there are cases it is not connected properly. If you can feel current, try to plug in the power cord in a reverse position.
Then, you may not feel the current any more.

If you still feel insecure, you can connect wire to the plate at the back or front of refrigerator, then connect it to where it can be grounded(metal water pipe or cable TV outlet electrical box). Then the current will be minimized.

All electronics companies comply with international standard and if harmful current is detected, they conduct total inspection and discard the defective products. Thus, your safety is secured.
