Dr. Skott Ahn has been President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company since 2007. In that time, he has used his keen insights into the mobile market to lead the company to even greater success, anticipating consumer needs as well as emerging mobile trends. Under his decisive leadership, a highly talented team has created a string of innovative products that have capitalized on those trends.

In the three years that Dr. Ahn has been President, LG Mobile Communications Company has seen significant growth, increasing its unit sales by more than 20 percent every year. As the company continues to increase its market share, Dr. Ahn has been instrumental in positioning LG firmly among the global top 3 electronics companies, and greatly enhancing LG’s reputation in the process.

Dr. Ahn is a chief innovator and the driving force behind LG Electronics’ cutting-edge technology. He became Executive Vice President and Head of LG Electronics Mobile Handset R&D Center in 2004, and has been at the forefront of LG’s expansion in the global WCDMA (UMTS) and GSM markets ever since. His vast experience and knowledge of the mobile industry have been key factors in the success of LG’s market-leading products.

As Vice President of LG Electronics Digital Audio Video Business Company in 2001, he led the firm to the top of the global rankings, reaching 17.8 percent market share in 2003. Prior to that, as Vice President of LG Electronics Technology Support Division in 1999, Dr. Ahn successfully boosted LG’s R&D effectiveness and prioritized the recruiting and retention of top quality talent.

Dr. Ahn studied electronics engineering at Seoul National University before joining LG Electronics in 1982. He continued his studies after joining LG, earning his Ph.D. at Seoul National University in 1992 and later finishing the Advanced Management Program at the same university in 2005.
