LG Electronics is sponsoring the 2008-2009 LG FIS Snowboard World Cup, which is an international event.
The LG FIS World Cup winter sports event is taking place at 20 venues around 15 countries (10 countries in Europe, 2 countries in South America, 1 country in North America and 2 counties in Asia). The event will see top performing athletes competing from September 2008 to March 2009.
The LG FIS World Cup consists of major events, such as Alpine, Half Pipe, Snowboard Cross, Big Air and even Slopestyle as an athletics test event. The Big Air event is not only a competition but also a cultural sports festival with a concert, at which tens of thousands of people gather to join in the fun.
In September 2008, the first Half Pipe took place in New Zealand and then in Argentina, The Netherlands, with other countries to follow later. The LG Big Air event was a huge success with the attendance of 30 thousand people at the Battersea Power Station in London in October.
2008-2009 The LG Snowboard FIS World Cup runs live and recorded broadcasts on approximately 80 channels worldwide. LG has been promoting its brand name through site branding, for example on competition titles, uniforms, banners, start/finish lines, flags etc.
