Stay up to date and see what's happening in the world of LG
Did you know that 1.2 billion people, or almost a fifth of the world’s population,
live in areas of physical water scarcity?
Water scarcity is ongoing epidemic that needs to be addressed in a smart way.
Did you know?
√ Around 700 million people in 43 countries suffer today from water scarcity.
√ By 2025, 1.8 billion people will be living in countries or regions with absolute water scarcity,
and two-thirds of the world's population could be living under water stressed conditions.

We now live in a world where we need to conserve our water supply to minimize the effects of water scarcity.
When we think of water conservation, we tend to think of the usual methods of adjusting the water during showers, as well as minimizing the use of water during dishwashing.
But, since the amount of water used by washing machines are determined by the machine itself, how great would it be to own a washing machine that consumes water more efficiently?
This was something LG pondered as well.
LG was first in the consumer electronics industry to produce a washing machine with a verified Water Footprint Inventory and receive an ENERGY STAR® certification.
The amount of water used throughout the entire product lifecycle, from production even to scrapping has, of course, been verified. Even more, the technology in the washing machine calculates the exact amount of water needed per wash without any water waste.
In comparison to other washing machines, LG’s innovative products efficiently reduce the amount of water used.
With these efforts from LG,
We are now able to use a washing machine with a verified Water Footprint Inventory
What exactly is this so-called Water Footprint Inventory?
The Water Footprint Inventory is an indictor that measures the amount of water used throughout the entire lifecycle of a product, from the manufacturing to the discarding process and even including the amount of water expended during actual use.
To illustrate, let’s take a look at the Water Footprint Inventory of coffee. Obviously, there is the amount of water used for the shot of espresso, but the beans themselves required water to be grown. As such, the Water Footprint Inventory indicates the total amount of water that products consume, throughout its entire lifecycle.
The Water Footprint Inventory began garnering attention in 2011 when it became officially inaugurated into the UNESCO Evaluation Manual as a benchmark for environmental protection standards with the likes of the Carbon Footprint, an indicator for the amount of greenhouse gas emitted.
LG’s washing machine received the Water Footprint certification from the DNV and UL(Water footprint Inventory), the Europe and US’s global certification bodies.
The recognition by DNV arose from LG’s proprietary 6 Motion Direct Drive technology. By automatically calculating the laundry load and how much water is required, LG’s washing machine will use a precise amount of water and only the amount necessary to prevent waste. Even more, the advanced technology enables the drum to rotate at various speeds and in numerous directions. With six different motions including wave force, agitating, rubbing, compressing, rotating and swing, the mechanics will ensure the best possible care for all sorts of fabrics, while at the same time, consuming less water.
Standard Turn washing machine motion.
Delicates - this heart shaped motion washes laundry below the water line from side to side thanks to the soft swing
Intensive - A combo of scrub motion and the waved lifters create a figure-8 shape and a ‘trough’ of water. Effective, yet kinder, too!
Perfect Spray - A combo of spinning & spray from the shower forms the movement. This soaks the laundry faster and more evenly
Silent Wash –laundry is rolled below the water level & creates more friction with the inner drum - gentle on your clothes.
Crease Care - The action of rotating and stopping repeatedly in the LG 6 Motion washing machine minimise creasing.
Optimum Amount of Water Use
The smart 6 Motion Direct Drive technology will dispense the exact amount of water needed to provide the optimum wash per laundry load.
With various motions, the amount of water used will adjust based on the size of the load.
With the 6 Motion Direct Drive mechanics, water is conserved with ease.
Keeping our environment in mind and earning the Water Footprint Inventory verification without compromising on style & performance.
