The low carbon green management strategy is based on 4 major themes: production level GHG reduction through productivity enhancement, product usage level GHG reduction through energy efficiency improvement, business-wide GHG reduction and management, and enhancing social responsibility through the establishment of low carbon culture.
LG Electronics has completed the GHG inventory setup for its all 12 Korean operations in 2008 for the first time among Korean electronic companies, LG Electronics expanded and completed the GHG inventory setup for its all 29 overseas manufacturing sites in 2009. LG Electronics settles GHG inventories including 6 major green house gases under Kyoto protocol such as CH4, N2O etc. and used GWP and emissions factor from IPCC fourth assessment report (AR4-100year), when we settled GHG inventories in 2008. LG Electronics is currently conducting systematic management of its GHG emissions through the Corporate Carbon Management System (CCMS), a GHG management IT system. To ensure the reliability of data, LG Electronics engages third-party verification and completed the third-party validation on its 13 manufacturing sites in China followed the rules defined at 'ISO 14064-1' in 2010
The GHG inventory data of LG Electronics in 2010 is below and the breakdown data is including global scope 1 and 2 emissions.
LGE systemically manage GHG emissions from employees business trip by Global Business Trip System (GBTS). In 2010, total GHG emissions from employees business trip was 105 K ton CO2e. The data cover only for the trip by local employees and we plan to enlarge the management scope to business trip of global employees. LGE is expanding video and teleconference systems in the meeting rooms and trying to cut down the GHG emissions through reducing the business trips.
