To improve the environmental management of our vendors and the quality of raw materials, we have been operating the LGE Green Program (LGEGP, LG Electronics Green Program) since 2005. As a manufacturing company that receives parts and raw materials from our vendors, we recognize that the quality of the vendors' products is directly related to our quality competitiveness, and we promote Supply Chain Environmental Management (SCEM).
To manage the use of hazardous substances in the products, LG Electronics is operating an LGEGP for about 4,400 1st vendors. Through the program, hazardous substance management, import inspection and monitoring inspection on 1st vendors are being carried out. Continuous improvement of part quality, improving the raw materials containing hazardous substances, and other activities are also being carried out to improve the environmental performance of our products. LG Electronics monitors its supply chain by requesting its 1st vendors to check and support their 2nd and 3rd vendors. Since September 2006, we have been running the LGEGP system to manage and monitor all certification process. By supporting and making improvements for more convenient and effective program operation, we are seeking potential qualified vendors that can satisfy our standards.
The certification examination only takes place at factories of companies that have passed the LG Electronics' review along with verification of the documents related to hazardous substances. For the company that passed the examination, a certificate is issued and actual business is initiated with conclusion of a parts warranty.
LG Electronics distributes related information such as 'LG Electronics manual of the hazardous substance management in parts and models' both online and offline, so that its partner firms can easily adapt their operations to the GP Plus. This manual also contains detailed LG Electronics principles and standards with regard to hazardous substance management in parts and models.
