In August 2005, the WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) directive took effect whereby electronics manufacturers are obligated to take back and recycle end-of-life products. Each member nation of the EU has its own collection and recycling system. LG Electronics has fulfilled the regulatory demands in all EU countries, including countries like the Netherlands, Belgium, and Sweden, which already had take-back regulations of their own prior to August 2005.
Furthermore, LG is complying with the WEEE regulation for the countries in Europe but not European Union like Croatia. The followings are recycling firms to which LG Electronics has subscribed:

Recycling Information for Recycling Firms
Based on "EICTA, CECED, and EERA Joint Position Guidance on implementing article 11 of Directive 2002/96/EC concerning information for Treatment facilities," LG Electronics provides recycling information for products sold after August 13, 2005, should this be requested by a local recycling firm in an EU country.
