In April of 2009, LGE signed an agreement with the UN World Food Programme (WFP) to help the neediest people in Africa achieve self-sufficiency. As part of this agreement, we founded LG Hope School in Kenya and LG Hope Village in Ethiopia.

In cooperation with the UN WFP, in 2009 LG Electronics selected 13 schools in Kenya to be "LG Hope School", and 12 districts in Ethiopia as "LG Hope Village". The schools provide meal assistance and an improved education environment, while the villages receive assistance geared toward promoting self-sufficiency and environmentally-sustainable agriculture.
A total of 72,700 people have so far benefited from these programs.
