"Captions can be activated by one of the following methods..."


Option 1:
  1. Press the Q. Menu button on the LG remote control.
  2. Scroll to the Caption option by pressing the Left/Right directional keys.
  3. Use the Up/Down directional keys to select the desired caption option.
  4. CC1 is the most commonly used caption option. Other selections may display a large black box covering the screen. Select CC1 if this occurs.

Option 2:

  1. Press Home or Menu
  2. Select Setup
  3. Select Option
  4. Select Caption
  5. Use the directional keys to select the desired caption option.
  6. CC1 is the most commonly used caption option. Other selections may display a large black box covering the screen. Select CC1 if this occurs.

"If the caption option is greyed out or not selectable from the TV menu, let's check a few things first.


Captions all depends on the type of connection the customer is using. Use the below information as a guide:

  • If using a Cable box: The cable box could have an option to activate captions. If not, it may be necessary to contact the cable provider.
  • If using a Satellite box: The satellite box could have an option to activate captions. If not, it may be necessary to contact the cable provider.
  • If using a Converter box: The converter box should have an option to activate captions. If not, it may be necessary to contact the conver box manufacturer.
  • If using Standard Cable or Antenna: The coaxial cable must be connected to the television's tuner (RF Input). If the TV is not tuning the stations, it cannot provide the captions.
  •  

    "There are only certain instances where the captions can be edited to your liking"


    The source must meet the following criteria before the captions can be edited:

    1. It must be a DTV or CADTV station
    2. The TV must be tuning the station
    3. The Caption type selected must be Service 1-6. CC1-CC4 and Text1-Text4 do not provide caption editing options because they are used for Analog captioning.

    The editing options available for digital stations are as follows:

  • Size: Selects the words size
  • Font: Selects the typface for the text
  • Text Color: Selects a color for the text
  • Text Opacity: Adjusts the opacity for the text color
  • BG Color: Selects a background color
  • BG Opacity: Selects the opacity for the background color
  • Edge Type: Selects an edge type
  • Edge Color: Selects a color for the edges

  • Customer Education:

    "Closed captions are used to display the audio portion of the program in text format. There are several different caption options. Select the appropriate issue from the navigation buttons to the left, based on the customer's inquiry"
