"Does the TV have poor color on all inputs and channels?"
Check multiple inputs like a DVD Player, Cable Box, VCR, Game System.
- If the color is poor on all inputs, attempt to manually adjust the Picture Mode settings to a pre-defined setting like Sport, Game, Standard, Vivid, etc.
Did adjusting the Picture Mode settings resolve the color issues?
If yes: Troubleshooting is complete
If no: The device may require service
- If the color only appears on one input, proceed to step 2.
"Which type of connection are you using on the input experiencing the color issue?"
Component Cables
- The Component cables must be inserted securely into each device.
- The colors are often mismatched, causing the image to be displayed in black & white or with a blue or green tint.
- The colors MUST match the connections on the back of each device. A common mistake made here is to place the Red component cable into the Red Audio input instead of the input labeled 'Pr'. Ensure that the Red component cable is connected to the 'Pr' input on the TV.
- Because the Green component cable is labeled 'Y', it is often confused with the Yellow video connection. Ensure that the green component cable is connected to the 'Y' input colored green.
- Connect the component cables to another Component input on the back of the TV.
- Attempt a different set of component cables.
- Test the external device on another television if possible.
- Access Menu--> Picture --> Picture Mode to manually adjust color, tint, sharpness, etc. if the color was not corrected by the previous steps.
HDMI Cable
- The HDMI cable must be inserted securely into each device.
- Ensure that the length of the HDMI cable is not too long. (Recommendation is less than 10ft.)
- Ensure that the HDMI cable is not kinked or bent.
- Check another HDMI input on the TV with the same HDMI cable.
- Try a different HDMI cable.
- If there is another device in the home with HDMI output, please check that device to rule out the TV or connect this device to another television if possible.
- Occasionaly a bad HDMI cable is the problem, try a different HDMI cable to rule out the cable.
- Access Menu--> Picture --> Picture Mode to manually adjust color, tint, sharpness, etc. if the color was not corrected by the previous steps.
Composite or Red/White/Yellow Cables
- Ensure that the Yellow cable is connected into the Yellow Video input, instead of the input labeled 'Y'.
- Try a different set of Red/White/Yellow cables.
- Try a different A/V input.
- Test this device on a different TV in the home or connect another device into the same input on this TV.
- Access Menu--> Picture --> Picture Mode to manually adjust color, tint, sharpness, etc.
Coaxial Cable
- Ensure that the cable is connected securely to the input/output.
- Access Menu--> Picture --> Picture Mode to manually adjust color, tint, sharpness, etc.
- Test another coaxial cable if possible
