Bhuvneshwar Kumar Wins LG People’s Choice Award
New Delhi, November 6, 2014: Indian fast pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been awarded the LG People’s Choice Award 2014. Now becoming the third Indian cricketer to win this coveted trophy after Sachin Tendulkar and M. S. Dhoni. The award felicitated to Bhubaneshwar Kumar was decided basis of votes and support from the cricket lovers worldwide.
In a brief ceremony, attended by Chairman of the ICC Cricket Committee, Anil Kumble, ICC Chief Executive, David Richardson and Head-Corporate Marketing LG India, Sanjay Chitkara, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was declared winner and presented with LG’s coveted Trophy.
In response to winning the prestigious award, Kumar said, “First of all, I’d like to thank each and every one who has voted for me in the LG People's Choice Award. This award means a lot to me as I didn’t get it only for my individual performance but because of the love and support of my fans. Where I am today is because of my parents and coaches, and whatever they taught me in life as a person. I’d also like to thank my team-mates because without their support this won’t have been possible. So, thank you so much.”
The aspiring cricketer was chosen from a list of strong contenders that included other nominees for this year’s LG People’s Choice Award such as England Women’s Captain Charlotte Edwards, Australia fast bowler Mitchell Johnson, Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews and South Africa fast bowler Dale Steyn.

This award was first introduced at the LG ICC Awards 2010 in Bengaluru, with fans voting for their favourite player either through the official website www.lgiccawards.com or via Twitter using the hashtag #LGICCAwards.
The top 5 names were selected by an elite panel of cricket experts, headed by ICC Cricket Committee Chairman and former India captain Anil Kumble. The five players were nominated
by the panel basis their last year’s performance and the corporate values such as innovation, dynamism, strength in decision-making, performing well under pressure and executing a plan to distinction followed by LG.
