SKYPE- POOR STREAMING QUALITY

Poor streaming quality is often the result of a low network connection speed. If you experience poor quality video or videos have to stop and buffer frequently then the bandwidth of the home network may be insufficient. Network ready televisions will scan the available bandwidth and adjust the quality of the video so that it is presented without interruption.

You msut first meet the necessary network speed requirements

For a smooth playback experience, a broadband internet connection is recommended.

Skype requires a download speed of at least 3 Mbps (Megabits per second) for High Definition streaming.

Skype requires a download speed of at least 1 Mbps for Standard Definition streaming.

Skype requires a download speed of at least 1 Mbps for Standard Definition streaming.

Note: This does not mean that if your network meets the minimum requirements that you will have uninterrupted playback.

Network Speed Test:

The network speed can be tested by using the Vudu application installed on the device. Use the following steps to check the network speed:

Select Vudu from the Television’s Premium Apps Menu.

Scroll over to the My Vudu tab from the Vudu home page.

Highlight Info & Settings in the My Vudu page.

Start the test and allow the minute to elapse to get a good idea of what bandwidth you have available for wired/wireless streaming.

Note: For the best streaming experience, LG recommends a download speed of at least 5Mbps. If your network speed meets the requirements, check for software updates.

If your network speed is lower than 1-3 Mbps, you may wish to contact your Internet Service Provider to reset the signal.

If your network is well over 1-3 Mbps, attempt to stream a HD quality preview from Vudu to test the network connection further.

Note: You may also want to contact your internet service provider to reset your signal.

If the Vudu HD preview streams without incident, contact Skype for further troubleshooting.

If the Vudu HD preview did not stream properly, reset the home network connection.

Reset the home network

Try to reset the home network connection by:

Unplugging the power cable to both the modem and the router for 15-20 seconds.

Connect the modem back up first, then the router.

Check the streaming quality again.

If the problem continues after the network reset, contact your cable service provider for additional network troubleshooting.
