LG TV Wired Connection Error

When the Smart TV will no longer access the Internet several possible reasons include:

  • Loss of electrical power to the TV or home network hardware.
  • Home network equipment malfunctioning.
  • Problems with the equipment or the broadband connection from the Internet Service Provider.

Before proceeding with the troubleshooting steps, confirm that all electrical power has been restored to the home after a power outage event.



Troubleshooting Wired Network Problems

In the case of a power outage, first confirm all home electrical power has been restored.  Next, verify that the TV powers on normally. Proceed with these troubleshooting steps.

 

1.

Verify the home network equipment is properly connected to the Internet source and to the TV.

 

2.

After a power outage, all network equipment should be reset. Refer to Section Reset Router/Modem.

 

3.

After the network equipment is reset, confirm the LED status lights indicate the presence of a signal handshake from the Internet Service Provider. Next verify the status of the network to confirm access.

4.

Press the Smart button  on the remote control and select Settings > NETWORK > Network Status, then press the WHEEL or Enter. This will cause the Network Status test to run automatically.

The result of the Network Status Check is shown below.

A red 'X' mark indicates no connectivity either through the Gateway, DNS, or Internet.  Attempt to reset the network equipment again. then Refer to Section Reset Router/Modem.

 

7.

After the network equipment has been reset, rerun the Network Status test again to confirm connectivity. If no Internet access is available, contact the Internet Service Provider.

 

 

 

 

 

Reset Router/Modem

When the TV fails to connect to the Internet, reset of all home network equipment. Perform the reset in the following order:

 

1.

Power down the router by unplugging the device.

2.

Power down the modem by unplugging the device.

3.

Wait 30 seconds before powering up the modem; confirm LED indicator lights are on and the device is operating properly.

4.

Then reconnect power to the router and confirm the LED indicator lights are on and the device is operating properly.
