SEOUL, July 25, 2012 – At the prestigious advertising festival Cannes Lions, LG Electronic’s viral video, “Smart Thief Caught on Cam” was again rewarded with several awards. The video, which was distributed exclusively via YouTube, was awarded in Cannes with the Golden Lion for the best advertising and promotional campaign. In addition, LG also won the Silver Cyber Lion.

The Cannes Lions Awards are handed out annually for the most creative advertising campaigns. LG’s Netherlands office worked closely with Y&R Amsterdam to producing the video, which ultimately became the most successful viral campaign ever for LG Electronics with over 7 million views in the first four weeks.

In addition to the Cannes Lions, LG’s “Thief” was also recognized with a Gold at the CLIO Awards, a silver at the New York Festivals and the Merit Award at the ONE Show.
