The Green Program is designed to develop eco-products and is operated in conjunction with partner firms.
In conjunction with select partner firms, the company operates what is known as the LG Electronics Green Program, a certification program that encourages environmental awareness in an attempt to reduce the use of hazardous substances in consumer products, and to reduce the environmental damages these substances cause.
This program was designed to comply with national and international hazardous substance-related regulations, to offer eco-products to customers, to eliminate the use of hazardous substances during the production stage of raw materials and parts, and to minimize the negative impact on the environment. LG Electronics and its partner firms aim to establish themselves as environmentally friendly companies. The program has therefore targeted all LG Electronics' partner firms that supply parts, raw materials, and other materials.
Under the standards established by the Green Program, LG Electronics and its partner firms are assessed on their environmental management programs and hazardous substance management methods for a given product. A company that passes this environmental awareness evaluation is awarded a Green Program certificate, conveying to the public that they are doing their part for this important greater cause.
The Green Program considers three criteria when evaluating certification qualification: 1) environmental management programs, 2) hazardous substance management, and 3) a product management system.
In order to earn the certificate, a company must score more than 80 points and submit the following documents, specified by LG Electronics: an analysis report, composition table, and control list of environmentally sensitive substances; and a non-use certificate. Once LG has reviewed the submitted documents and verified the programs of its partner firms, the certificate can be issued.
