Institute of Technology

LG Electronics' Institute of Technology is comprised of several laboratories that research and develop core and cutting-edge technologies.

LG's Institute of Technology is comprised of the Devices & Materials Laboratory, the Information Technology Laboratory, the Mobile Communication Laboratory, and the LED Laboratory. The institute works to provide technology seeds to foster future business opportunities, and other core, cutting-edge technologies for LG products.

The Devices & Materials Laboratory researches new energy devices (solar cells), healthcare system sensors, and large-scale optical storage devices.

Technologies concerning multimedia processing (image/audio processing, voice recognition, and speech synthesis), wireless personal area networking, and future agents (personal/home agents, and robots) are researched by the Information Technology Laboratory.

Mobile terminals, relay modem solutions, 3G/4G standardization, and other next-generation mobile technologies are part of the Mobile Communications Technology Laboratory's major research areas.

In the LED R&D Laboratory, advanced and innovative LED technologies such as vertical LED chips, wafer-level packages and LED backlights for large-size LCD TVs are being developed.
