What People Are Saying

Rated 3.3 out of 5 by 8 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Practical features and ease of use. This product is a great improvement on a competitors model. Not only are the features likely to satisfy the needs of many users, the applications are logical to access and apply. My only criticism is the lack of a paper (Hard Copy) of the Users Manual. It is tedious to need frequent Computer access to obtain information on the many features available. A copy should at least be available as a buying option. 28 July 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Won't play blu-ray from 2013 Wanted primarily to be able to store live TV/conveniently record TV from HD Freeview. That it does fairly well. Updated the software to the latest version though, but on Blu-ray end up with a banner saying the player needs a software update. Worse is the fact the WiFi settings need resetting each time the power is turned off. Even when it's just turned off to standby, not at the mains. LG Support have explained the box has no non-volatile memory - which as it has a 1TB hard drive is not accurate. So not sure I'm happy with a Blu-ray player that can't play Blu-ray discs, even though I'm not sure we'll acquire many. 24 January 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Disappointed I agree with the previous review. I spent a lot of time looking for a good quality freeview box. Opted for this one as it has a built in DVD player. It was more than I wanted to pay but thought I would get a good quality item with no issues. Unfortunately, this hasn't been the case. I have had problems with the sound getting quieter and louder for no reason. It changes channel when recording so you miss the programme you are watching. And switches off if you're not quick enough to stop it. No programme info and if anyone can tell me how to stop recording a programme once it has started then I'd be very grateful. 06 April 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Disappointing - please update firmware!!! I bought this DTR four months ago (Xmas 2013) to upgrade from standard Freeview to HD Freeview. Features that attracted me to this model were the large 1 TB disk, the ability to record two channels at the same time (twin tuner) and the built-in DVD/BlueRay player (thus eliminiating one or two additional boxes, and all the associated cables). It was one of the most expensive DTRs on sale, so I thought it would be even better than my previous (SHARP) DTR. It is easy and mostly intuitive to use. Unfortunately it is far from perfect. One of the most frustrating issues - also reported by another reviewer, above - is that when you are watching a given channel and a program starts or ends recording in another channel, the DTR will automatically switch to the other channel (sometimes twice, within a minute). You will therefore miss bits of the program you were watching. (We just missed a goal in a football game - which drove me to finally report this issue.) Other issues are: (i) it is not possible to see the info/synopsis of any recorded programs in the library (eg summarising an episode from a series) - the only way of finding which episode is which, is to play the first bit of it!! Very inefficient way of searching for the program you want to watch; (ii) it has also happened that it stops recording a program 1 or 2 minutes short of the end of the program (eg you invest 90 minutes watching a whodunnit, only to find out that the crucial bit at the very end - when it is revealed who was the murderer - is missing!). VERY frustrating: please fix these bugs and release an updated software/firmware version. Bugs like these are not acceptable for a DTR of any price, much less one as expensive as this...! Thank you. 01 April 2014
