LF7700 offers consumers subscription-free, high definition Freesat TV
London, March 09, 2009 - LG Electronics (LG), a global leader and technology innovator in consumer electronics, today announced the launch of its first HD Ready 1080p LCD television with built-in Freesat. Having Freesat integrated into the stylish LF7700 range means that viewers can enjoy subscription-free high definition (HD) programmes from the BBC and ITV as well as over 140 digital TV and radio channels, all packaged into a designer set.
The LF7700 is packed with the latest technology features, including an Ethernet port, connecting viewers directly to future IPTV services.
The TV also features LG's unique Intelligent Sensor II technology. Specifically designed with energy savings in mind, using up to 69.5 per cent less power than a standard TV.* This is possible because the TV can calculate the light levels of its surroundings, and automatically adjusts the screen's settings for an optimal viewing experience.
The LF7700's high gloss finish, red accents and touch buttons add style to this elegant TV. Together with its LED light and soft touch power button, the elegant curve design perfectly complements any home. To add to its impressive design, the set includes LG's invisible speaker system, specially tuned by renowned audio expert Mr. Mark Levinson, giving viewers crisp, rich, sound quality without detracting from the TV's overall look.
"The LF7700 is a perfect example of form meeting function," said Brian Na, president of LG Electronics UK. "It incorporates smart technology, with ultra slim design and is the epitome of style. Consumers are treated to a subscription-free HD device that accentuates a chic living space. Freesat was purchased by an additional 100,000 customers at the end of 2008, putting paid to our decision to integrate it into the LF7700."
Emma Scott, Managing Director of Freesat commented; 'We're thrilled to be partnering with LG. The company is renowned for the quality of its products, and the launch of the LF770 is a fantastic addition to the current Freesat range of products."
Freesat launched in May 2008 as a joint venture between the BBC and ITV, providing viewers with some of the best BBC and ITV programmes in HD, including major sporting events such as the US Masters, the FA Cup, the UEFA Champions League as well as a range of blockbuster films and drama. Since its launch, Freesat has proved extremely popular with over 300,000 sales.
As the digital switchover continues throughout the UK, Freesat offers the perfect solution for viewers to enjoy digital TV wherever they are. It is available in 98 per cent of homes in the country. Because it is broadcast from a satellite and received via a dish, homes currently out of transmission range of Freeview will now be able to get subscription-free digital TV.
The LF7700 will be available in the UK from April 2009.
