Sleek look, touchscreen technology and 5.0 megapixel camera see sales exceed 550,000 units
Berkshire, UK, 21 January, 2008 - LG Electronics Viewty phone has delivered record sales for the company, it has been reported today. In Europe alone, peak sales of the Viewty in the first fifty days of sale even exceeded those of LG's break-through Shine and Chocolate handsets.
Following on from this success, LG, a worldwide technology and design leader in mobile communications, is also announcing a "Dark Silver" version of this hugely popular phone, which has now sold over 550,000 units.
LG will begin offering the silver version LG Viewty in addition to the current black edition from the end of January 2008. The silver colour was selected as the number one colour choice of consumers looking for a stylish, polished, premium phone that reflects their own style. LG researched colour preferences across Europe, and colour trend forecasts for 2008 position silver as one the key phone colours consumers are looking for.
"The new "Dark Silver" Viewty has all the quality of the black version but in addition to the stylish stand-out colour, we have re-designed the jog wheel to make scrolling the menus easier following consumer feedback. The LG Viewty, which includes a 5.0 megapixel camera and a 3.0-inch touchscreen, has achieved the 550,000 plus sales after only two and half months. The phone was launched in November 2007 in Europe. LG expects the LG Viewty will continue to sell well, with up to 10,000 units leaving store shelves daily. The company attributes this success to the LG Viewty's combination of top-notch features and great design.
This new silver colour choice is one example of LG's dedication to making products that reflect customer insights and needs. This year LG will release even more colour choices for the LG Viewty.
