85 per cent of 16 – 24 year olds with a dream job in mind are confident they will secure that ideal job; however 24 per cent don’t know how to start
· 65 per cent of those with a dream job in mind will accept a lower than average salary

· Media and healthcare sectors were uncovered as the most desired industries for today’s youth, in comparison to the least favoured – fashion, manufacturing and engineering
Berkshire, UK, 17 December, 2009 – The majority of young Brits are clear on what their dream job would be, with 85 per cent of these respondents stating that they are optimistic in securing that ideal job, according to the independently conducted LG ‘Dream Jobs’ survey*. However 24 per cent admit that the main challenge would be finding out where to start.
Although financial reward is the top motivating factor when it comes to a career choice (65 per cent), 65 per cent of those with a dream job in mind admitted that they would accept a lower than average salary to start of with in order to get their foot on the ladder.
On average, a career that incorporates personal hobbies ranks as the most popular definition of a dream job. However, there is a clear gender divide with the majority of young women stating that their ideal career would be one that provides work/life balance, while young men see a dream job as one that provides financial reward.
An example of a young Britain that has succeeded in turning his personal hobby into a career is David Treacy, one of UK’s top gamers who is currently signed to LG sponsored Team Dignitas, UK’s premier gaming team, who has been earning a living playing computer games for over five years.
Commenting on the LG ‘Dream jobs’ survey, David Treacy says: “The survey results are very much in tune with my personal experience. For a long time I always knew what I wanted to do for a living and that was to play video games and turn Professional. I had heard of American and Korean players achieving that level and I was determined that I wanted to join them. Certainly though to start with just like the survey suggests, I was unsure of how to go about realising my dream.”
LG Business Solutions has been a Team Dignitas sponsor and technology provider since January 2009, having watched them in action at the PC Gamer Showdown in which LG’s gaming monitors were used in the final showdown. As part of the partnership, Team Dignitas have access to LG’s innovative product range, and currently use LG's High Definition W2261V monitors which offer an advanced 20,000:1 Digital Fine Contrast ratio and 2ms response time, both crucial for gaming at top level.
Warren Lewis, general manager, business solutions, LG Electronics comments: “The findings from our survey show us that it’s important for young people to be inspired to take the right steps towards their dream jobs. Many of us have hidden talents and have the potential to turn our hobbies and interests into careers. The experience Team Dignitas and its members have had is just one example.”
