Why is Wi-Fi consuming power after a factory reset, even when I've switched it off?

 

 

symptom Symptom

 

           Despite the Wi-Fi being turned off, WiFi is still consuming battery power.
           This problem occurs even after a factory reset.
             

cause Cause

 

        Location” and “Allow Wi-Fi Scanning” options are defaulted to being 

              on after Factory Reset.

              This allows the Wi-Fi applications to scan for available channels even when

               Wi-Fi is in Switched off condition.

          ■ Switch off the “Location” and/or “Allow Wi-Fi Scanning” option

 

          ■ Steps to Switch off “Allow Wi-Fi Scanning” option:

              - Settings > Wi-Fi > Options > Advanced Wi-Fi

              Note: The options will be found worded differently in different models

                  e.g.: “Allow Wi-Fi Scanning”, “Scanning always available”
