Good tv but poor customer service.
I purchased this TV 14 months ago, been a great tv with lots of features and superb 3D, But my love affair with this tv has lost it's charm, after just 14 months the picture started flickering on and off causing my massive headaches. No problem I thought I'll just contact LG and get the problem resolved, but due to poor customer service I'm forced to watch my broken Tv.
So if you want a TV that's good quality and is only expected to last 14Months then this is the ideal tv for you.

you will not believe how much better tv watching will be in 3D a hole new experience .LG can be a little more expensive than some but worth paying that little more for the quality and extra features .If you need new glasses they are not the expensive ones at £70 a pair , they are about £15 for 4 pairs , but you do get 7 pairs free with the tv . Does make 2D in to 3D but this is not as good as programs made in 3D but a feature that is there and does make it a little bit 3D but do not expect to much . The only tv provider that do things in 3D is sky so if you buy this tv you will have to think about going to sky , Virgin have got a few 3D programs but never put new ones on and they are not that good .If you buy this tv and they try and sell you the extended warranty in the shop just to let you know i got it a £100 cheaper by doing it through LG them selves on a 5 year policy .If you ask me if i think it is a good tv value for money and would i recommend it my answer is yes

usb files not always recognised
i have found this tv to be very good picture quality and 3d is clear.
one issue is the usb port will not recognise all files that i have tried to play from it.
you get a message that the sound is not recognised
apart from that, the fact that you get a family pack of 3d glasses it is very good value.

I would steer clear of this TV until LG have managed to fix the backlight bleed. I have taken my TV back 3 times and had it exchanged, but each model has the same problem.
The backlight bleeds through the corners of the screen slightly but it is enough to cause a significant distraction, particularly when watching something in widescreen. The corners of the TV grey out and therefore the black widescreen bars, and the settings can only reduce this a little. Local dimming helps, but does not fix the problem
Apart from this major flaw the TV is EXCELLENT, but it is a real shame the 3 tvs I had exhibited this same problem.
I think the narrow bezel has come at the cost of picture quality... future models will be better I'm sure, but for now I swapped this for the 42" LW550T which has the wider bezel. The 550T has one of the best picture displays I have ever seen and would give that full marks.
So, if you want a TV which looks stylish, go for the 540U – if you want unbelievable picture quality choose the 550T
