Very difficult to source the correct 3d glasses having been told they were easy to get. Once found they cost over £40 a piece, making the total package of tv and 4pairs of glasses very expensive, I would have gone passive 3d if I had known. 3d picture quality is no where near what I expected from an active set up with a lot of ghosting despite a lot of adjusting of in the 3d picture settings. Don't use 3d anymore as it is too annoying with the ghosting so now have nearly £200 worth of glasses we don't use.
Tv is so shiny it is like a mirror on the wall so we have to use it with all the blinds drawn.
Overall very disappointed. Do your research properly before you buy 3d!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by elainehen we do love our 3d LG tv
forn the price we think this tv is an excellent 3d example
it has enough features to keep my technofile husband very happy
he received it for his 50th birthday back in June 2012
we use sky andi listen to the radio through it but we noticed the tv planner left its mark unless we switch it onto energy saver- then i can listen to sky radio without any worries of damage to the screen
to be fair its our first plasma so once we sorted this out
its been fine
originally we had it placed infront of the window but it made the screen difficult to see most of the time
after rearranging the room its now on a back wall and
we no longer think its dark or it does not suffer from any glare issues
it really is a perfect buy - and movies like Avatar in 3d
are just sheer pleasure for the whole family

1/ software is clumsy, slow and dated. No. honestly, the sort of software that comes with cheap tv's, not LG... WHAT WERE YOU THINKING OF LG!!!
2/ came with 3d glasses that had outdated firmware which makes them turn off every 10min. Not managed to watch a 3d film yet because of this.
3/ barely any films i play from the usb hard drive work correctly because of a complete lack of codec support. Countless films with picture but no audio or films with audio but no picture

Having owned the 50" for a few months, its an awesome TV. Picture perfect ! . Cannot comment on speakers as running through an Onkyo amp 7.2 . Will buy a bigger one soon and will use the 50" for the bedroom. I have always bought LG tvs and for the price and specs cannot be beaten on price and reliability
