Stunning Picture Quality
We have just treat ourselves with an early Christmas present with this TV.
Our 1st criteria was price for what we wanted - 60", smart TV and especially 3D.
When we first saw this TV in the showroom it looked a bit lost and blended in with the surrounding screens on display. I don't know if it`s just me, but the true quality of a TV picture is not fully shown until its within the confines of YOUR four walls.
Yes there are/were better quality displays in the showroom, and a couple in particular were visually stunning for picture resolution.
However, these were FOUR TIMES the price of this one!
I was particularly impressed with the small size of the bezel, which makes the TV blend into the background walls.
Having gone from a 42" LCD TV (LG too - as is the TV in the bedroom) the size of this TV is quite shocking at first. It fills the corner where the 42 used to sit.
The picture quality is amazing for the price of this set. The natural brightness of the display actually lights the room up negating the need for the usual evening lamps to be lit.
The base setting of the picture quality is dulled down a bit too much, but this is the `ECO` setting to use less power so is understandable.
I like the natural look of the standard setting, while the range topping THX setting is superb when watching movies.
The sound is pretty good being loud enough to fill the room comfotably. When set to 3D sound during watching a 3D movie, the sound is transformed into almost surround quality and has a noticeable hike in volume requiring the volume to be turned DOWN if left on the previous setting! IMPRESSIVE!
The quality of the 3D is very good in my opinion, but not having had a previous 3D TV I have nothing to judge it against. But, for me it is perfectly acceptable.
The `upscaling` 2D to 3D feature is also one of the reasons why I chose this TV and although it is nowhere near the depth of a `proper` 3D movie, it is not designed to. It does a good job of turning some of the more fantastic HD wildlife programs into something more stunning.
My only criticism is the positioning of the the inputs on the rear and side of the set. ITo use the enclosed cable tidy, I have found that I have had to buy extra length cables compared to my old set. The extra width of the TV also accentuates this fact.
Overall, I cannot fault this purchase, and especially at the price I paid!
I just hope it is as reliable as my other LG products have been so far......... time will tell
