It should have thermostatic activity ie. when the desired temperature is reached, the unit shuts off until the temperature in the room increases. Why does mine run continuously??

Answer:
We regret the trouble you are experiencing with this air conditioner. In COOL or DRY mode, the thermostat in the air conditioner will run the compressor until the set temperature is reached, then cycle the compressor on and off to maintain the set temperature. In FAN mode, the fan circulates but the compressor does not run. If this does not resolve the matter, then the unit may require service. Please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000 to make proper service arrangements.

When comparison shopping other brands, I noticed that many advised not to turn the unit on right away after setup at home.

One brand advised waiting 24 hours -- because the internal fluids need to settle if the unit was not always 'vertical' while it was being transported from the store to the home.

This LG unit had no such instructions about a waiting period -- not in the book -- nor in the online video.

Please advise whether there should be a waiting period -- and how long it shoud be.

Thank you.

As with any unit such as this, including refrigerators, anything that cools, it should be placed in it's operating position for 24 hours before plugging in

Answer:
Yes, any time a cooling system is transported in any manner other than as it would be operating, there should be a waiting period of at least 24 hours. This should allow sufficient time for the oil to drain back out of the evaporator and condenser coils. The best solution, however, is to not place the product on its side initially.

Answer:
You have the dehumidifier on. That's why you are getting the water leakage. You can set it to cool without the dehumidifier. The dehumidifier doesn't hold a lot of water so if you are gone all day that is why you are getting water leakage.

We regret the trouble you have experienced with this air conditioner. It seems that there may be a problem with the shut-off switch or possibly the control board. It will be difficult to determine without an inspection of the unit. Answer:
We regret the trouble you have experienced with this air conditioner. The air filters should be cleaned every 2 weeks; depending upon indoor air quality, more frequent cleaning may be needed. There appear to be 4 filters on this device. Instructions on removing the filter can be found on page 21 of the owner’s manual. A copy of this manual can be obtained from our website at http://www.lg.com/us/support-produc...#.

Not really an installation kind of person? Don’t worry. Most of us aren’t. That’s why we make portable air conditioners. This one has 7,000 BTUs, multiple fan speeds and even a programmable 24-hour timer. Which means you can control the temperature even when you’re not there. Cool, huh?
