water collection pan

It looks as if the water collection pan is quickly filling up. Should it be draining somewhere? or is that normal?

Answer:
It is not uncommon for the collection pan to fill with water. The more humid an area, the quicker the pan will fill. There may be a drain cap or plug on the back of the cabinet, typically located on the lower right corner, when looking at the unit from the back. Even if there is not a drain plug, the back of the cabinet is shaped in such a manner that the water will drain at a certain level. This is all normal operation.

Where is the vent? How can an AC work without proper ventalation?

I just purchased the LW1214ER and cannot find the vent. Does it have a vent? If not, how can the AC work properly?

Answer:
We appreciate your interest in this air conditioner. The typical operation of this unit would be for the air, already in the room, to be cooled and recirculated. No external vent would be necessary for this process. If fresh air is desired, the vent can be opened in the return air duct. The lever to open this panel is a small plastic stick that protrudes from the air grate. If you have additional questions, please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000.

We regret the trouble you have experienced with this air conditioner. The number provided is not a valid serial number. However, the LW1214ER air conditioner is a 12,000 BTU model.

What is the maximum cooling ability of the LG LW1214ER?

I just installed the unit 7/12/14. The outdoor temperature was 86 F. The a/c unit would not cool the room below 77F. The room is just 250 sq ft and connected to an adjacent room of 100 sq ft. Total 350 sq ft. This seems pathetically low performance. Insulation is OK and no air leaks and low sun exposure, low ceilings (low room volume). The a/c unit does discharge cold air, fan speeds are F1, F2, F3. If I raise the unit's temperature setting to 78F it will cycle on and off. Any temperature below that and the unit runs continuously. Thank you Mike

Answer:
We regret the trouble you have experienced with the operations of this air conditioner. Are these rooms separated in any way? Is there a door between them or are they open? The description provided suggests that this air conditioner may be overpowered for the room in use. It is possible that this is the cause of the lack of cooling capabilities. It is suggested to look into the use of either an 8,000 or 10,000 BTU unit, rather than this 12,000 BTU unit. If you have additional questions on this matter, please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000.

It also has our Auto Restart function, which automatically turns the unit back on after a power outage — so you don’t have to.
