What People Are Saying

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very quiet and work wonderful. This is a replacement for another LG Air conditioner that was 7 years old. The old one still worked but wasn't cooling as well as it did. Also started to make noise.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very quiet Quite powerful and cools with ease. Was delivered to my front door. Only issue was that it seemed heavy but then I know this is a large one, to be expected.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow Wow Wow I've had this unit for three months now and I could be happier. This unit cools our entire downstairs in a timely fashion and is super quite. If you can find this unit look no further this is the air conditioner for you.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So quiet! We bought this a.c. unit to replace a noisy Panasonic unit, and it is so much quieter! It cools the space (a living room/dining room) quickly and effectively. I've rated this at 4 stars instead of 5 for two reasons: 1st, the filter pulls out for cleaning instead of the front opening. I see that this has advantages--it means the face plate doesn't rattle, which contributes to the quiet operation, but it also means I can't easily see if the fins and coils need cleaning (the face plate is clipped on in a difficult-to-open way). 2nd, the electronic brain of the unit started having trouble after a few weeks and needed to be replaced. To their great credit, LG made no argument about sending out a repairman (who diagnosed the problem as being with the electronic controller) and supplying the needed part, even though it took a few weeks for the part to come--apparently we were not the only ones with this problem. Still, as I said, when balancing the need for a repair with the excellent customer service, I feel happier with a brand that is willing to stand by their product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome! This is one of my BEST purchases. My central A/C went out and I didn't have the money to replace it. My only option was too purchase a window unit. With fans this unit keeps my house cool. Thank you LG for making an awesome A/C.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from this is the third unit, purchased through separate vendors, each with the same design flaw. copper coolant return line from the exhaust coils to the compressor is crimped to nearly closed causing the unit to operate much less efficiently (in one unit the line was completely closed). the design problem could be resolved by rotating the location of the copper line about 20 degrees counter clockwise and/or managing packing differently until either or both of these happens the unit is not worth buying. I will not give this model another chance.

Should I pull the plug in the back of the LG LW1216ER airconditioner or leave it alone?

Asked by: Robert John Miller
We appreciate your interest in this Air Conditioner and its components. While it is certainly acceptable to remove the drain plug from the back of the A/C cabinet, doing so can potentially reduce the operational efficiency of the device.

We are looking for a back fin protector to protect the back

Asked by: Leticia
We appreciate your interest in this air conditioner. There is no back grate for the air conditioner, unless it is installed from the factory. There may be an after-market covering, but we would have no information available regarding such a device.

When i turn on the AC the air is cool but it makes a loud noise and it spits out water, i already looked outside to see it there was something wrong but i see nothing. The fan works fine, how i can fix the sound and water problem? Please help.

Asked by: Nene4460
We regret the trouble you have experienced with this air conditioner. If the device has been properly installed in the window, then gravity should cause any moisture to drain to the outside of the house, in such a manner as to not get blown through the indoor vents. As for the sound being made, this will depend upon the source of the sound, and its duration. Please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000 to troubleshoot this matter.
