On some air conditioners when you switch them to thermostat mode so they automatically turn off and on based on the temperature in the room, the fan runs all the time and the thermostat only turns the compressor off and on. So does this air conditioner run that way? Or does it work where both the comperessor and the fan automatically turn on when it gets too hot, and both automatically turn off when the temperature cools down to the set temperature?

Answer:
After the A/C reaches the temp set with thermostat the compresser shuts off and the fan runs for a short time then shuts off. When the room starts to heat up again the fan and compresser turn on again.

Answer:
All of our air conditioners are designed to cycle the COMPRESSOR when in the COOL mode. The fan will run constantly during this time. The only time that this will be different is when using the 2-hr or 4-hr ON/OFF cycle or the ENERGY SAVER MODE that will shut off the fan as well as the Compressor.

LG lw1512 ER window Air Conditioner

I RECENTLY PURCHASED THIS UNIT FROM AN ON-LINE RETAILER AND THE UNIT ARRIVED WITH NO EXTERIOR COVER OR FILTER. THE COOLING FINS ARE TOTALLY EXPOSED AND WITH THE WINDY SAND BLOWING WEATHER WE HAVE IN NEW MEXICO I AM AFRAID THE UNIT WILL BECOME QUICKLY CLOGGED WITH DIRT AND BECOME INOPERABLE. IS IT SUPPOSED TO HAVE SOME SORT OF EXTERIOR PANEL SHIPPED WITH IT ALONG WITH A FILTER/ CAN YOU SEND ME A PHOTO SO THAT I CAN GO BACK TO THE RETAILER AND COMPLAIN. THANK YOU

Answer:
I apologize, but no; this window air conditioner does not come with an external filter, and a cover for the cooling fins would hinder the operation of the unit. Air blows OUT through these fins, so this will help the situation, but in such a sandy, arid location, it may be needed to keep watch over the fins to keep them clean.

Answer:
This is normal operation for this air conditioner. On some of the newer LG air conditioners, the power indicator will begin to flash when it is time for the filter to be cleaned. You can reset the indicator by unplugging the unit for approximately 3 minutes and then restoring power to the unit.
