Answer:
I just unplugged mine and the light was off when I plugged it back in. There might be another way but that is what worked for us. I did read that the light doesn't detect if the filter is actually dirty it just goes on after the unit has been ran for a certain number of hours. So unplugging it might screw up the actually timer for the light but if you just clean it once a month it should be fine.

Answer:
I had seen similar concerns online. When we 1st installed it I did notice bugs so I researched more and found out that they cannot enter in through the actual unit itself. It's either cause the sides aren't seeled properly or like in our case I forgot about the gap along the very top of the opened window between the two frames. Not the part you close onto the unit above it. There was about a half inch gap were the bugs were coming through. We used the black foam that came with the unit and stuffed it along the gap and no more bugs:)

I have not experienced a mosquito problem with my unit... however, I did not used the provided screen. I used a energy form core panel cut down to fit where the screen should go.

As the air conditioner will be exposed to the outdoors year-round, I want to know if melting snow or leaves will fall through vents on top of the unit and effect the interior mechanics.

Answer:
The top of the exterior does have a vent. Approximate size 6 inches x 6 inches (did not measure) If you plan to leave the unit in the window year round I suggest buying a cover that fits over the whole unit during the fall and winter months.

Dry (mode)

I just purchased a new LW1514AER window air conditioner. It has a "DRY" mode. Exactly what functions are performed when the air conditioner is in the dry mode?
Does it maintain the set room temperature and remove moisture, or does it just remove excess moisture?
What determines how much moisture is removed?
Questions are being asked because my wife has breathing problems and is on oxygen all of the time. When the dew point is high she has trouble breathing. This is the reason I actually purchased the air conditioner.

Answer:
Yes, the DRY mode is a feature where the product acts like a low powered dehumidifier. The COOL mode also extracts moisture from the air. The DRY mode is primarily for humid, but mild temperature days.

I just watched the video that accompanies the information for this unit, however, the video does not really apply to this unit because the video specifically states that it is for 8,000 - 10,000 BTU units. It then gives a "disclaimer" that "installation of a 12,000 BTU unit may differ"; no where does it make reference to a 15,000 BTU unit, which is what this unit is.

The video says do not wall mount this unit, but as I just stated, it refers to 8,000 - 10,000 BTU units. I'm thinking the reason a unit should not be wall mounted is because wall mounting may block the vents. However, if ALL the vents are free from blockage and accessible, can't the unit be mounted in a wall versus a window? Thank you.
