What People Are Saying

Rated 3 out of 5 by from no bad energy saver kicks on too much, i suspect it makes my bills higher

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gets the job done We bought this A/C unit to replace an older unit from another manufacturer which had stopped working. I purposefully picked this unit because its dimensions matched the finished opening in my wall where the previous unit was installed. The installation of the LG was not difficult, and the product dimensions matched the information given on the Home Depot website where we purchased it. The new LG unit cools well and it much more efficient than the unit it replaced. It actually cools more efficiently than our central A/C unit, and we use both to keep our house cool during these Oklahoma summers. My only concern is that control panel is not aligned perfectly with the out plastic case -- it is off-center, which gives the unit an odd look. But, frankly, that is just cosmetic, and doesn't affect the unit's performance, which is excellent.

Do I need a new thermostat for my LW1813ER?

no matter what temperature i set my unit on the compressor constantly runs. It cools well but i don't want it to be 60 degrees in my house
Asked by: SParker
Hi SParker. The LG 17,500/18,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner with Remote, Model # LW1813ER will adequately cool a well sealed room that is 1000 square feet in area. By well sealed, we mean there shouldn't be any open hallways leading to other rooms and then if the room in which the air conditioner is installed in is sunny, you should increase the capacity by 10%. If more than 2 people occupy the room at the same time, you should add an additional 600 BTU per person. The reason we say all this is because when an air conditioner is underpowered, (i.e too small for the room it's in) the compressor runs constantly because it is trying to cool the room but that room is too large!...^IFV

We just had our LW1813ER window air conditioner installed and it is leaking all over the place, does this unit come with a drip pan?

our LW1813ER was just installed and is leaking all over the place, does a drip pan come with the unit? What could be causing this. Thank you
Asked by: dottedi
Make sure the unit is tipping slightly to the back/outside, so the condensation drains that direction and not into your house. Also, there is a small black plug on the lower right corner of the outer case/box. Open it and let the condensation drain outside.

What can I do to lessen the noise of the LW1813ER

Landlord just replaced our window air conditioner today w the LW1813ER. With today's technology why does this have to sound like a small plane taking off everytime it kicks in to cool? Overtakes phone calls, music, conversation, etc. Only a 1 bedroom apt so is EXTREMELY noticeable and frustrating! Very happy to have a new unit but not at the 62 dBA decibal rating! Some other units I checked out are closer to 50 dBA so, what's the story? Is there anything that can be done to address this noise disturbance. Likely tough as now installed. Also, I sure never found many favorable reviews for LG window air conditioners. Well, seems they malfunction rather quickly, and so then will replace it w a much quieter, higher-rated competitor product. In the meantime, any advice for lowering decibals w/out compromising the function is appreciated!

We regret your dissatisfaction with the operations of this air conditioner. This model was designed to operate at 62 db on the interior of the window, and 67 db outside the building. We do not have any methods available for the modification of this unit. If it is operating according to its specifications, then there is no option available to change its design.
