Rated 5 out of 5 by from Performs as well or better than my previous LG A/C Bought a little over a month ago, to replace almost the identical model I had installed 8 years ago. Better energy rating, cools really well especially now during N.E. Floridas' seemingly endless string of heat waves. My 1250 sq. ft home stays cool because I close off 3 rooms we seldom use anyway, bedroom and Mancave have their own 5000 btu a/cs. This new model used a different freon than the old one, has a red dirty filter warning light, and a lift out filter...no having to open a front grill which with a little age begins to rattle, buzz and vibrate. The cost was about the same as the LG unit from 8 yrs ago. The factory warranty isn't nearly as good as in years past so I purchased a 3 yr extended warranty. Over the years the old LG unit had to be recharged, the outside coils replaced and a new compressor installed...all on warranties, never cost me a dime. I run this a/c 24/7 from the last of April to the end of October most years only shutting off for bad storms or vacations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Economical and good quality I bought this unit because the central system was costing us so much money, and it the unit ran day and night. It still didn't cool the 950 square feet of living space, back bedrooms weren't cool. This unit, LG, was place in the dinning room window, and with the aid of a couple fans cools the entire living space. It has a energy saver, so I set the temp. and it turns off/on costing me 1/3 of the price the central air conditioner cost. Until I can fix the central air this LG is our main source of conditioning, and I will always keep this unit as a back up. The front grill was a challenge, but once it was put on securely it stays in place. No water drip at all, or its so little it evaporates before I can notice. 110 degree weather and the unit works terrific.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from poorly manufactured poor quality control, parts are not checked for fit, front grille assembly does not stay on steel box housing, keeps popping off, had to use tape to keep it in place

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great at Cooling the Living Room This a/c is great at cooling the living room and the dining room and it is also quiet at low fan speed. The only thing I don't like about the a/c is that it drips a lot of water in the back. I have to put a bucket down to catch the water leaking from the a/c. Within two hours, the a/c drips almost a gallon of water. The a/c repair man said this is normal with the new energy star a/c. I would have given this 5 stars if not for the dripping water.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from the ac is great I installed on 7/30/15 the house is a 1100 square ft home. Its in the living room cools the area great. Only thing is if front grill is not on right it will cause the fan on high speed to make a noise, just re-install front grill correct and the noise is gone. Also wish there was a wire grill on back side of ac unit to protect fins. Cool great I will by another one in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 1st new AC in 14 years I have never bought a LG product before, and didnt know anyone who had. So i was a bit concerned. But due to its low price as compared to other AC units of the same BTU range I decided to make a go of it. Im quiet glad i did. Not only is the price a great selling point but the Unit keeps my whole living and dinning room cool even on the hottest days so far this summer. I bought the 18,000 Btu AC because I intended to use a fan to blow cool air into the kitchen area, which is not open to direct flow from the unit. The area im cooling in the 2 rooms is 600 square feet and this unit is doing admirably well.

Hi there. The energy saver light is always green when it's on. It turned to orange once I had it off for a bit then turned it back on. Is that normal?

Asked by: Hollie
We appreciate your interest in this air conditioner. We might be able to make more of a determination as to what is occurring with this machine if there were more information on how long the unit was inactive before starting it again, as well as the condition of the air filter at that time. I have a window unit LW1815ER. There is a vent lever sticking out of the vent (where air comes out) to open or close the vent, not the levers that change the direction of the air flow. I was wondering what is it for, not sure when it should b open & close

Asked by: myaige
According to the information listed on page 18 of the owner’s manual, the ventilation lever must be pressed in, for the CLOSED position, in order to maintain the best cooling conditions. When some measure of fresh air is necessary in the room, set the ventilation lever to the OPEN or OUT position.

We have recently purchased the lw1815er and it works great! Just wondering if the unit can read the room temp instead of displaying the set temp?

Asked by: tatordevoe
I apologize, but no; the temperature set in the display will only show the set temperature. It will not display the current room temperature.

Lost my owner's manual. How do I reset the clean filter light. I cleaned the filter, but the light is still on.

Asked by: Vicster
Hold the temperature buttons(up and down arrows) at the same time. This should reset it.

I see no reason at all why this unit could not be installed in a wall, given that the opening dimensions H x W are appropriate.

I see no reason why this unit could not be installed in a 6 inch wall. Would there be an issue with the louvers being blocked?
Asked by: Jeffrie
The installation instructions provided in the owner's manual for the LG Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW1815ER only describe installation of this unit in a window and we can only advise you on installations that are consistent with those instructions. Forgoing those instructions is discretionary but you should also be aware that installation of the unit in a manner that is not consistent with that as described in the owner's manual voids any warranty on the unit...^IFV
