What People Are Saying

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best window a/c ever. quite, efficient, durable, great value, easy to install

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's cool how well it cools! We live in a 360sq ft park model RV. The unit is installed in the main room and with the use of ceiling fans cools the entire house...and quickly. We are entirely satisfied.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from cools quickly I have run this a/c almost non-stop for 3 months in Texas heat and it is great! Not too noisy and well worth the upgrade from the smaller less-expensive model which is so noisy when it cuts on and off that I am thinking of returning it (hardly used because wakes me up all night long).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rather quiet, and good cooling This is the first Air conditioner I have owned, so I can only compare it to those others I have encountered elsewhere, But I am well pleased with this machine. It seems to be as quiet as one could expect an air conditioner to be, being hardly much louder than a small fan when on low, and a while noticeable when on high, still not offensive. It cools very well, doing a most admirable job with my small house, which with it's open floor plan comes to larger than this AC is rated for, and yet still makes walking inside on a hot day like entering an oasis. Just make sure you follow the installation instructions and read how to preform the needed maintenance of the filter, etc. And you should find this a great product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor quality control ! Mounting bracket on bottom of unit is spot welded on at 30 % angle . it makes the side panel very misaligned . Makes it much harder to install !!! Also noticed that the inside fan sounds like it is rubbing against something !? Very loud when it rains ...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Quiet. Nice controls. Old mounting system. Very quiet and cools very well. Mounting system is dated compared to features. Temp "up" button on unit not working, but remote does the job...not worth carrying it back to the store for that defect. Clean design and white color a big improvement over old one it replaced. Good directions and ALL hardware included for normal mount, but does not seal 100% around bottom of window frame, so that keeps it from my top rating. When an AC unit even comes with a remote, one would think the sliding vinyl accordion panels to the sides could be a better design by now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bought this to help out, central air We own a brick home which maintains the heat, and we have had over 90 degree weather with thick humidity lately. Our central air is working over time trying to keep the house cool. But with anyone that has kids, knows, the doors keep opening and closing, which in turns brings in more hot air. This unit is in our living room area and it works GREAT! Cools down the house in less then an hour. Very impressed with this unit, because it apparently is used for small areas. Well, this unit cools over 1200 sq feet with all interior doors closed and ceiling fans running. Hoping this will give our central air a little break and a break in the high electrical bills!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good little Air Conditioner - but could be better This unit has good design features and works overall pretty well. However, I do have a few issues. 1. The thermostat is not calibrated. The temp set and the room are usually 3 degrees different. Set the unit at 76 and the room will rest at 79. 2. The econo cycle is great but too short. The cycle is for 3 minutes. It stays off for 2.5 minutes then runs for 30 seconds to test the temp. If it needs to turn on the cool, it then shuts off then starts again in the cool mode. This constant on and off so quickly is nerve racking. They could have made it so it was adjustable for 5 up to 10 minutes. 3 minutes is just too quick. 3. Lastly, the front touch panel on my unit was scratch and torn. No biggie as far as functionality is concerned but, a quality issue that should have been spotted before shipping. I bought on line so I got what I got but, I'd much rather purchase at a store to inspect the unit before taking it.

I've cleaned the filter. Red "clean filter" light still on.

Asked by: Libertyhenderson520
We regret the inconvenience you have experienced with this air conditioner. This red indicator light is typically related to the CLEAN FILTER alert. The ‘Clean Filter’ LED will light up to notify you that your filter needs to be cleaned. After cleaning the filter, press “Temp ^” and “Temp v” buttons together to turn off ‘Clean Filter’ light. The filter reset must be done from unit control panel. The buttons on the remote control will not perform in this fashion.

Why lg lw8012erj Water come from front ?

Asked by: Hanif vora
When water leaks from the front of the cabinet, usually this is caused by improper installation, tilting the cabinet too far forward. However, if this water is coming from the upper vents, then this could simply be due to high humidity in the room. Please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000 for assistance with this matter.

My LG model LW8012ER is professionally installed on high floor in apartment building BUT when we have heavy rains & winds the unit leaks from the bottom onto window sill as if the rain comes through the top vents and out bottom seem. What can be done?

Asked by: WOL III
Proper installation of this air conditioner would have any water, whether from the rain or from its own produced condensation, running outward, toward the back of the air conditioner cabinet. The pathway for the water is blocked between the inside and outside portion of the cabinet. It would seem that there is a higher level of humidity being collected, and the cabinet being tilted forward, may be allowing additional moisture inside the room. Please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000 for additional information.

Do I clean the outside with water hose

Asked by: begal
We appreciate your interest in this air conditioner. It is not recommended to spray the cabinet with a water hose. It is recommended to keep as much water out of this device as possible. This is part of the reason for the recommendation of an awning or cover over the cabinet.

Blinking red power light.  Unplugged unit, waited 3min and plugged back in.  Is the blinking red power light a concern?

Asked by: AJHS
We regret the trouble you have experienced with this air conditioner. Where is the location of this particular blinking light? If it is on the display/control panel, is there a notation next to it? It is recommended to check the air filter and clean it if necessary. If that does not resolve the matter, then please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000.

Where can I find an installation guide for this product?  What is the maximum window width it can handle?

Asked by: Hot Guy
This room air conditioner is designed for installation in standard, double-hung windows with actual opening widths from 22” to 36”. The upper and lower sash must open sufficiently to allow a clear vertical opening of 13” from the bottom of the upper sash to the window stool. This information can be found on page 12 of the owner’s manual. A copy of this manual can be downloaded from our website at http://www.lg.com/us/support-product/lg-LW8012ERJ.

Should the unit be on vent close or open

Asked by: Gina46
We appreciate your interest in this air conditioner system. The VENT can be open or closed at your option. Keep in mind that humidity levels can increase in the room when humid air comes in through the vent.

I just bought an LG 8k btu air conditioner. It gets cold for a while then blows warm. Shouldn't it make an 10x12 room ice cold? Or do I need to replace it. Not even a week of having it.

Asked by: MeMe1980
The LG 8,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner with remote, Model # LW8012ER is designed to cool an estimated area of 340 square feet. Your room is only 120 square feet, the air conditioner is too large for the room. Buying an air conditioner that is too large does not provide better cooling. An oversized air conditioner is actually less effective — and wastes energy at the same time. Air conditioners remove both heat and humidity from the air. If the unit is too large, it will cool the room quickly, but only remove some of the humidity. This leaves the room with a damp, clammy feeling. A properly sized unit will remove humidity effectively as it cools...^IFV
