What People Are Saying

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 26 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 Great product i love this a/c, it works great and cools my room just right June 6, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Window A.C. This is my second one of this window air conditioner. We had the first one for over 6 years. When it no longer functioned we reviewed other units but none offered the quiet cooling that this LG unit does. It provides quiet cooling. It cools so well that we can use the energy saver feature most of the time and our fan speed is rarely above medium fan, a lot of the time it is on the lowest fan. I like my living room cool and this does the job. The price is comparable with other units of similar size, but those units do not provide the same quiet rating as this LG unit. I do not like loud air conditioners and this is not loud. It also has low vibration. You do not realize it is on. Looking for excellent cooling this would be a good choice. October 31, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 This product is a great value and features This unit works very well I have 2 window units that cools my whole house without making my electric bill to high.the only problem I've had is I always use the remote and the buttons don't work on one of my units. But overall very happy. September 4, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good value for your money. Only thing I'd change, it's still not quiet enough for my bedroom. But, it does it's job well. September 4, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by It is most effecient, It runs quietly, and cools wonderfully. Takes a great deal of moisture out of the air, which is one of the main things we need in our climate. I purchased one of these units last year and when I needed another unit this year, for a different room, I would not have another brand. LG is the best. August 19, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by good value I purchased this unit to help cool a large family room, not only did to cool the room but my heat pump has cut on less since I installed it. August 10, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by LG produces exceptional Air conditioners I found LG TVs' to be exceptional. I found out the same about this AC! The unit is well designed and well engineered. It has all of the features I need at a good value. I look forward to a long LG relationship. July 6, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by This AC unit is quiet and cools well I purchased this LW8013ER window ac unit as a replacement. It was easy to install, cools the room nicely and is so quiet. July 5, 2014

Answer:
Sort of yes. There is a pull lever that opens a fresh air vent for the unit. If it is closed the unit only pulls air and cools the air from the inside of the room. I hope this is what you are referring too as recycled air.

Answer:
It is not recommended to install this air conditioner through a wall. Installation in a fashion other than that for which it was designed can result in operations that are harmful to the product. We do, however, have air conditioners specifically designed for such an installation. These units can be reviewed on our website at http://www.lg.com/us/wall-air-condi....

Answer:
I don't think you will find a unit of this size and price that has a outside case that does have a protection grill.
I think if you attach something with screws to the casing it may void the warranty, but not sure. You may want to try to attach a protective grill with magnets and see if that gives you what you need.

Why does the unit fill almost immediately with water, inside and out?

I bought three units -- two work fine, never fill with water, and any condensation drains out the hole on the outside. One, however, has had a problem since new, filling up with water both inside and out, whenever it is set to cool or energy save, no matter what the settings. The fan then spits water out into the room. I have verified no blockages in drain hole, and unit is installed properly, tilted slightly toward the outside. I also removed the cover to look for debris/blockage, or defective/[plugged drain holes -- none visible. It behaves as if it is always set to dehumidify, but also, the water is collecting inside, and will not drain, almost like there is a problem with incorrect pressure/pressure drop in the refrigerant.

Answer:
Check your level. If a window AC unit is level it will fill with water. A window AC unit should have a 10% down angle to allow for drainage.

Answer:
We regret the trouble you have experienced with this air conditioner. The pressure level in the coolant lines will have no bearing on moisture staying inside the unit or draining to the outside of the window. The only thing relating to the movement of water in the unit is gravity. If the water is not draining, then there is either a clog or the unit is not tilted enough toward the outside. If the unit continues to have difficulty, then it may require service. To make service arrangements, you may either contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000, or you can check our Repair Provider Lookup on our website, at http://www.lg.com/us/support/repair....

These type of A/Cs are meant for double hung windows.
The LW1013CR model for example is meant for side-sliding windows.
