Can you search by title on Netflix, or browse genres, or is the netflix interface limited to selecting only movies that are already in your queue?

Answer:
You can select movies by genres and other catagories on Netflix, you are not limited to what is only in your instant queue. You can not search by movie title like online, but, you have multiple categories to choose from. I have seen the Blue Ray players that only show what is in your instant queue on Netflix and personally I would not purchase one of those. With the LG BD590 you don't need to go online to select different movies or TV shows, you only need to go online if you want to do a search by title. We love our LG BD590 so much I took my mother in-law to get one the same night we got ours because she liked it so much. The wifi works great and movies stream wirerlessly without any problems.

Answer:
The interface of Netflix from this Blu-ray player allows you to select a movie that is in your instant queue. It does not allow for searching outside of your queue.

Answer:
The LG comes with software from Nero that you use to set up file sharing. For example . . . I stream videos and music from an external hard drive that is connected via USB to my desktop computer. The Nero software allows me to stream from this external hard drive over my wifi router to my LG with no problem.

I need to understand if there's a way to use this Blu Ray as a receiver and all i need to purchase are speakers to have a surround sound. I would not mind buying the LG speakers if this is possible so please let me know what's my best options.

Answer:
The BD590 cannot function as a receiver. It is more like a tuner. It needs a receiver or an amplifier to enable you to power speakers. The manual will show you how to hook it to an amplifier or receiver system.

Answer:
No you can't. This is just a player. It will provide the audio input to your receiver, but you still need a receiver to decode the audio from the HDMI cable and direct it to the speakers.

Not as far as I know. Mine is connected to my home theatre receiver via an HDMI cable. I don't think it can drive a set of surround sound speakers.

Wireless Internet?

Will this product connect to the Internet via my wireless network or does it require a wire?

Answer:
Yes! It will connect to your network and No! you don't need another wire.

Make sure your wireless network is configured to WPA.
Most modems (routers) are configured in WEP and most all blu-ray disc players are configured in WEP format.

Call your ISP and have them to configure your wireless to WPA and your problem is solved.

Good Luck!

Answer:
It will go wireless, but it's always better to have it wired. Wireless can get all kinds of interference, through phone usage, electrical wiring, microwave, etc. It really depends how close the router is to the blu-ray. The closer the better.

Answer:
The LG BD590 has wireless built-in and a ethernet port for J45. There are two BD590 in our house, one wired and the other wireless. Both players work nicely. If using a wireless router make sure it has the 802.11n rating for speed. This player does not use the 5gh band, but, works flawlessly with my 802.11n wireless.
