Still trying to get wireless portion working
Date:March 4, 2011
Best Features: Will support 3D, good remote, nice picture
Cons: Wirless connectivity hard to get working.
"Got this unit on a closeout, had other LG equipment. Like many other wireless blu-ray units, I still cannot get this working though the air (wired is OK). I haven't had the time to call Customer Support yet (dreading it). The unit can 'see' my FIOS router, but when I run the tests, I cannot connect to the Internet with auto or manual settings.
Picture is fine, unit has all connectors necessary for good audio and video. Netflix setup was a little uninuitive, but works OK.
The jury's still out on this one."

Too bad it's discontinued
Date:March 3, 2011
Best Features: It does everything it's supposed to do with ease.
Cons: Haven't found anything, yet.
"I haven't played a blue ray disk yet, but everything else this player does is great. It basically hooked itself up to the internet by detecting the signal and it's been a no-brainer ever since. When you turn it on, it sets up everything on the TV automatically. If you haven't inserted a disk, it brings up an on-screen menu of available media, including Netflix and other similar services. The salesperson told us this model had been discontinued and we purchased one of the last ones they had. I hope LG replaced it with something similar because this model is really nice."

By Far The Best Bang For The Buck
Date:February 25, 2011
Best Features: Performance, Style/Design, easy to use, Features/Settings, Quality, converts mp3 sound into a pseudo 5.1, rips cds on to its internal hd
"I have owned the BD590 for about 2 months now and it has opened up a world on my HDTV that is comparable to the best Streaming Video, CD Rip & Store, Blu Ray Player, and DVD upscale Players on the Market.
I can just insert a CD and rip it to the internal drive and it will play back in psuedo 5.1.
All DTS and Dolby decoding takes place in the player so you don't have to have a ridiculously high dollar receiver (although I would recommend one with at least 2 TOSLink inputs).
I'm an electronics geek so I follow C|Net on the Internet and now I can watch their shows and reviews on the TV with no stutter or lagging.
I also have a subscription to NetFlix and I use the player to play movies, although NetFlix only streams out 2.1 sound the BD590 converts it into a psuedo 5.1.
One thing I ABSOLUTELY have to mention is that it takes the Eagles "H*ll Freezes Over" DVD and the 5.1 sound and video are EXTRAORDINARY.
BEST BANG FOR THE BUCK, HANDS DOWN!"

Move beyond even the amazing capabilities of Blu-ray and instant streaming entertainment with the BD590 Blu-ray Disc™ player from LG. You're not just getting the best way to enjoy Full HD 1080p with Blu-ray or the unparalleled entertainment options of being hooked up to NetCast™ Entertainment Access. This is fully loaded with a 250GB Media Library that lets you store your music, photos and HD movies you purchase from Vudu. This is something better than Blu-ray.
